How would you raise awareness and build marketing around AI Hackathon (offline event)?
For almost 3 or 4 months, there was an idea to create an offline event (Hackathon) where makers could work in a team, network and partially launch a product on Product Hunt (if it is good).
Time is ticking, and I + 2 other guys, are working relentlessly on our first event in the capital city of my country.
We haven't met each other in person, but it feels like a right click – we complement each other, getting sponsors, first registered attendees, etc.
We wanna make this event a bit special in terms of raising awareness, and wanna find ways to do that.
If you ever organised an offline event, how did you promote it?
We implemented "ordinary" things like social media, email campaigns, collaborations with venue owner and the specialty is to use physical flags with the logo across the city to spark some FOMO.
Do you have something more "eye-opening" in your mind you would like to share?

Nika, we’re organizing an event in October.
Here’s what we’re doing:
1/ We reached out to 15 coworking spaces across the country
2/ We contacted technical universities/schools
3/ Other hackathon organizers
4/ Influencers/podcast hosts with our ideal audience
And we asked them to announce our event. Meanwhile, the municipality is helping us with coverage in the local newspaper and several websites.

@byalexai What kind of event are you hosting? I found it really interesting that the city hall is involved in supporting it. I have to admit, it instantly made me picture organizing something like a networking session focused on artificial intelligence, which is the field my product is in. I’d love to hear a bit more about it if you can share! :)

@byalexai @johannagoulart In which city are you based Johanna? I think that if the city is smaller, they are more likely to support events to enrich the cultural and academic life. :)

@johannagoulart We’re going to do something like Shark Tank, but with local businesses. It’s about a small city in my country, with around 100,000 people. We want businesses from this area to get started. It will run for a few months, during which we’ll help them launch - with marketing, business, legal advice, support, and mentorship. At the end, there will be a Demo Day.
We contacted the municipality because we want to promote local entrepreneurship and businesses starting from this city. Some of the participants won’t be originally from the area, but they’ll launch from here. It’s like being from Europe but starting out in Silicon Valley - everyone knows you began there. The municipality accepted the idea and agreed to sponsor the event with a small amount, present awards to the winners, and provide us with a venue (we’ll host it in the coworking space). This way, there will be more visitors at the Demo Day and some of the presentations. At the same time, they will also share it through their social media channels as well as in local newspapers.

@byalexai Cool! Do you have any websites available? Where is it held?
Questflow
@busmark_w_nika We don’t have a website yet. We’ll be hosting it in a coworking space, and part of the pitches will take place in a hall provided by the municipality. А hall that can hold over 1,000 people.
