How do you keep track of useful content you find online?

I often find myself coming across valuable articles, insights, or resources while browsing only to completely forget where I saw them when I actually need them.

With so much content coming at us every day, keeping track of useful information feels like a challenge.

Some people rely on bookmarking everything, but that quickly turns into an unorganized mess. Others use note-taking apps like Notion or Evernote to save key takeaways, while some prefer browser extensions that automatically surface previously seen content—kind of like how Recall tools work (I discovered Recall on PH leaderboard today).

Personally, I’m still trying to find the best system that’s easy, searchable, and doesn’t require too much effort to maintain.

I think it comes down to less content gathering. Imagine if it were all food. It’d spoil before you needed to consume it. From this perspective, I find that I don’t need to save links or resources. Only when I am in immediate need do I search and use a link or resource. In general, for the things I use I keep them in Obsidian.

@reid_kimball That’s such an interesting perspective! I never thought about content hoarding like food spoilage, but it makes total sense. I guess the challenge is balancing curiosity with actual utility. Do you ever feel like you miss out on something valuable by not saving links, or has this approach been freeing?

@ambika_vaishoh it’s been freeing! I tell myself that I can find the resources I need when I need them. I’m not perfect. occasionally I still get a web browser full of tabs but I’m getting better. I can focus more on work than organizing.

I need to say that I have a pretty mess in that.

Some articles are bookmarked, I post links in Notion, others in Trello, then I message myself on Messenger to chat that link (yes you read right), and then I post it in my Apple Reminders.

It is my special system :D

@busmark_w_nika Glad to know I’m not the only one with a ‘special system’! 😆

Mine is a mix of Notion, Raindrop, and way too many open tabs that I promise myself I’ll organize ‘soon.’

Have you ever actually gone back to those Messenger links, or are they just lost in the abyss?

Nika

Whenever I post any links in chat, I try to pin image – so it is easier to find it in "Media" section :D

Ambika Vaish

@busmark_w_nika Hah, pinning the image is actually genius!

will definetely borrow this hack, your “special system” is starting to sound smarter than mine 😄

Nika

@ambika_vaish But it sometimes doesn't work as I have many information on my mind :D

I also need a solution for this. I've lost so many things by just not having any decent system. I agree that bookmarks just get messy.

Cook More kind of sort of tries to solve this for recipes. It's basically a list of bookmarks for recipes, sorted alphabetically. I've been asked to add tags and search to it. No reason it couldn't be extended to work for any links 🤔

I've found that a mix of Notion and Raindrop.io works well for organizing useful content—Notion for structured notes and Raindrop for bookmarking. But there's always room for improvement! Curious to hear what others swear by.

What’s your go-to method?

I totally get where you’re coming from! Keeping track of useful content is definitely a challenge. Personally, I use a combination of bookmarking and note-taking apps, but I’ve also started relying on something a little more specific for the content I find related to music apps.

For example, I’ve found that keeping track of the latest updates, news, and APK releases from music apps has been really helpful. I keep everything organized in my site, ytmusicpremiumapk.com, where I can easily refer back to APK versions, features, and any articles about YouTube Music Premium. It’s my little repository for all the best music app-related content!

I’ve also been experimenting with tools like Notion for organizing key insights but still feel that having a dedicated space for my niche content works best. Do you use any specific tools for keeping track of content related to a particular interest?

I have always been a content hoarder myself, juggling various bookmarks across all sorts of channels like X, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc. While taking notes to @Notion was a partial remedy, it becomes too difficult to surface when you have a large archive, and moreover, I was ultimately saving them for "knowledge" not the "contents". Is there something that can extract insights from my collection? Well, I can't find it so I am building on myself.

The product is close to completion and I am now looking for beta testers. If you have interest, love to be connected!
