I am happy to see more and more ethical projects in the tech space. We definitely need them!

Pros:

Lots of useful resources I didn't know about!

Cons:

Would love to see an option for people to leave reviews or comments to each one

@benln Thanks a lot Ben! 😊

Thanks for the hunt Ben! Hey everyone, we're excited to do our bit in mainstreaming ethics and common sense both in the tech space and in our lifestyles. Any feedback or ideas on how how to achieve this more effectively, please hit us up 🙌

ProtonMail and Tutanota could be added as email options.

This is such an awesome resource. Would love to find some way to work together on Greater Than Learning.

Any resource is valuable, specially if presented with an well designed manner (Design it’s not just how it looks but it’s also how it works).

I like the idea of this platform, it is a fun way to discover and share ethical resources on the Web. There are many categories and I enjoyed exploring all of them. I also like the small descriptions, it made me discover many resources I didn't know were ethical. The collaborative aspect of the platform makes it even cooler. What are your plans for the future?
Catalin Zorzini
@cassandra_beaulieu Hi Cassandra, thanks a lot for your feedback! Working hard at the moment to develop the collaborative aspect of the platform :)

@thatakke Hey Akke, great observation, thanks for reaching out. This has been on our mind a lot and philosophers have indeed been debating ethics for millenia. Long story short, we've been postponing launching our main platform for a long time because we're still fine-tuning a system which aggregates ratings of a certain company / item from a variety of external review bodies and watchdogs, while also offering our community options for reviews, flags etc. It's not easy but we're on it. More about what we consider ethical in Cennyd's posts, who literally wrote the book on ethics: https://ethical.net/ethical/futu... https://ethical.net/ethical/ethi... https://www.future-ethics.com/ 🙏

@thatakke Hi, I'm agree with you it's not very clear. Google ethical???? @zorzini you suggest on analytics services Matomo, Fathom or simple analytics and finally you use Google analytics...
Catalin Zorzini
@thatakke @batmanx Hey Dan, good call! Everything is a work in progress and this project is no exception. We're in the process of replacing all the nasties, probably by the end of the week. We're still trying to find the right ethical hosting as well; tested a couple of options and had to switch back to AWS because they didn't handle traffic spikes well. Will keep testing and document our findings on the blog. We're getting there! 🙏

The page isn't opening up properly and the design is fully screwed. Is it just me?
Catalin Zorzini
@footer Hi Amin, can you hard refresh and email me a screenshot if that's still happening? cata@ethical.net Thanks!

Awesome! I decided to live eco friendly. And this network will be my support

@ethical Nice start to a resource. Out of interest, what is your classification of ethical? By example, why would you not consider dropbox.com to be ethical?
Enna Smith

thank you for your pro

Pros:

Good idea

Cons:

nothing

In my particular case, it's an alternative from browsing G2Crowd and instead support companies that relate to my cause. Curious how this is going to scale up when more companies will join the list and whether an upvote system like PH would happen.

Pros:

Beautiful design, easy to browse and find companies that share my own ethic values.

Cons:

I'd probably leverage reddit as a community vs. self hosted.

Catalin Zorzini
Hey Sergiu, yes working on a review system and a few other goodies, stay tuned! Or even better sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when we ship that, plus receiving updates regarding recent additions to the list. Thanks for your question!
Hania Pamuła
Great compilation of open-source alternatives, I didn't know about most of them! And I'll definitely come back often. Thanks!
Catalin Zorzini
@han_p Glad you like it Hania!

Who has been able to sample the various products on this list and can be able to pick out the best one? https://knowallthe.com/best-whol...

This is a great website which lists open source website/product of almost all categories that we need today and one would not find it easily anywhere. The Products and websites listed are mostly concerned about privacy and security of users that is the best thing about this website.

Pros:

Great range of categories covered of open source website/products.

Cons:

More detailed description of product/website would be helpful with people review's on them.

I love this idea! Thanks @benln, @rkbhochalya, and @zorini for bringing this here! I have a list of companies I avoid due to ethical reasons, but have never thought about collecting the list of alternatives to their products and services. It's great more and more people are aware of the ethical aspects of the products that we use!
