Very cool, installed and tried it on a 2hr Andrew Huberman video, and I enjoyed the 8 point summary. I like the expanded summaries as well, I'm curious if you will allow it to fetch more key points in the future?
Alex Kataev
@jnakano89 πŸ˜ƒ Appreciate the support! Yes, it's very often asked for. Someone needs to go even deeper. I'll try to make it customizable.

I only install extensions if I can inspect their source. Please consider https://github.com/fairsource/fa...
Alex Kataev
@mikestaub But anyone can look at the source code of an extension, can't they? There are even extensions that provide UX for that. Google forbids the use of code obfuscation in extensions, and I don't.
Mike Staub
@ax8080 Yes which is which is exactly why I don't install extensions that don't make this easy for devs to do by uploading to github or gitab
David Douek
Great tool. I just started using it but the 8 points summary gives the summaries a good structure. Jave been using if mostly for webinars summaries
Alex Kataev
@daviddouek Thank you! Yes, I did a dynamic number of points first. Then I realized that 8 is *almost always* convenient.

Launching soon!
Looks really good πŸ‘ Congratulations with the launch!
Alex Kataev
@maxprilutskiy πŸ€— Grateful for your feedback!

πŸ’‘ Bright idea
Great tool! I'd suggest a feature where I can prompt the summary according to my current research goals. For instance, customize it like "list top 3 most important ideas" or "list all cities that were mentioned", and so on.
Alex Kataev
@nikmcfly Wow, I love this one! I have a backlog of 100-150 ideas and this one isn't there and it's awesome! In addition to custom queries, you can make top 5 popular presets for different tasks. Thank you!

Congrats on your launch! The combination of summary and timestamps can be very useful for YouTubers who need to create chapters for their videos. The extra step needed is to generate a short title out of the summary you already provide. I'm curious as to the importance you give to the figure 8 (even in the app name). Wouldn't some videos need to be broken down into more/fewer parts?
Alex Kataev
@sefi_k To be honest, I spent almost all my time on the product and quality of the summaries. And that title, which I came up with GPT in 5 minutes was left until the very start. As for the 8 points - it's almost always convenient, both for short videos and for long ones. I have the task of making the number of points dynamic in backlog, yes. But probably in the range of 6-10 items. And many thanks to you for the feedback and your congrats πŸ”₯

Really cool! I've been using it for a while, and it saves me a lot of time watching the news and some long videos.
Alex Kataev
@densmr Thank you, Denis! I hope you won't be disappointed!

Very cool idea!

@ax8080 Great product! A special compliment for creating an idea that perfectly fits the ProductHunt format. Professional question, if you consider it possible to answer. We are engaged in machine learning professionally, but in computer vision. Therefore, there is a purely research interest. Have you been able to bypass the limit on the length of the request at 2000/4000 tokens? After all, the number of words in a 2 hour video can be more, do you split it into pieces or what doesn't fit doesn't get into summarization
Alex Kataev
Thanks a lot!! Yes, I divide it into segments. An average interview/podcast is around 150,000 symbols, which is roughly 30,000 tokens. But I split it into even smaller parts, about 1,000 tokens each. There are a lot of nuances, but the basic principle is the same as described by OpenAI in its article on Alice in Wonderland summarization.

Not a lot of free runs, but found it useful for my workflow
Alex Kataev
@1g0rrr I was really worried about the huge Product Hunt traffic and that I would spend all the money to pay for the OpenAI GPT, so I reduced the number of free runs on the trial. Perhaps I'll increase it when the wave of users passes! By the way, all videos that have already been handled by someone are free, and there is no charge for that. And there are more and more of them. Thanks for the feedback!
Mari Yanchauskayte
Wow, this looks really cool! Will there be any mobile support in the future? I'm always on the go and would love to be able to access Eightify from my phone.
Alex Kataev
@mari_yanchauskayte Thanks!! I'm definitely thinking of adding mobile support in the future, but right now I'm focusing on making the Chrome extension as good as possible. If the product is successful, I'll definitely jump into mobile development. Even though I've never done a mobile app before :)
Artem Bezrukov
Cool idea!
Alex Kataev
@artem_bezrukov πŸ€— Grateful for your support!
Anya Brooy
wow, that's a really time-saving app! I find it extremely useful for various "5 tips on how to..." videos! i watch them high speed, now I know a better way! :) good luck!
Alex Kataev
@anya_brooy Thanks! :D The problem with "5 tips on" is that Eightify will make 8 key takeaways in any case (but still should be useful). I'm planning to make the number of key takeaways dynamic. Thanks again!
maxim kudymov
congrats on the launch
Alex Kataev
@maxim_kudymov πŸ‘ Greatly appreciated!

gj guys! have a nice launch It's definitely a game-changer in terms of time codes..
Ivan Shishkin
Cool product, tried it on Huberman's podcasts. The results look great, saved me about 3 hours:))
Alex Kataev
@shishkinii But sometimes you still want to listen to the most interesting moments, don't you? Some podcasts for information, some for fun. Thank you!!!
