Hi Product Hunters! šŸ‘‹ EarthSounds combines ambient sound mixing with Pomodoro timing to create the perfect productivity environment. I built this after struggling to focus in noisy spaces - combining natural sounds with time management was my solution. Now I'm excited to share it with you! I'm curious: what sound combinations work best for you? Rain + cafe ambience? Ocean waves + forest? You can even upload your own favorite sounds to create truly personalized soundscapes! What sounds would you like to see in our next update? I'll be here all day to chat and answer questions!

1 minute in, first time impression: WOW!

UI - phantastic
Eas of use - 5/5
Work timer settings - oh man, it's great!

Still, I need to spend some more time with it, but I definitely share this with my wife when she's back from work. She'd love it even more than I do, she's a storm freak.

@peterwolf šŸš€ That's the best kind of first impression! Thanks for the energy boost!

Thrilled you're enjoying the interface - we obsess over making complex audio controls feel intuitive.

Since your wife's a storm enthusiast: Try combining "Thunderstorm" + "Wind" + "Coffee Shop Chatter" - it creates this amazing "cozy cabin during storm" vibe. Pro tip: Save it as "Storm Chaser" preset so she can find it instantly!

Do share how it works for your different needs - would love to hear both your perspectives in the review later. Happy soundscaping! ā›ˆļøā˜•

@lred I'm still on it. Already registered a profile to save my settings. It works well so far.

There are two things I was hoping for to find and wasn't able to (yet, I assume).
1 - I had the intention to introduce a subtle harp tone into the mix but hasn't found one.
2 - I was trying to find the search button for sound effects but I'm not sure if you've got one.

On the positive side: I like the fact you don't let users scroll through sounds in any way. That's good because the action becomes less important and it leave more emphasis on the "just listen to it" side.

@lred
Oh and one more thing.

I'd love a function to introduce either timeline-based scenes and/or even events... or perhaps like in a "text-to-ambient scene" way where I set a scene like:

"Walking in the forest at night, a few birds flew by, then I get caught in some light rain, but it suddenly fades away when I reach the river. I decide to hit a tent around a campfire I've built. Have some time besides the fire before I go to sleep to the sounds of the night forest, only to wake up on a storm..."

and then have a timer value on it like:

"5 hours from start to finish."

It'd surely make me want to design stories (as a novelist) around sound scenes and would be more than happy to share it with users all across the platform.

Hit me up if you decide to go down this route because I'd be more than up for some testing!

@peterwolf Great to hear you're diving deep into the sound mixing! šŸŽ¶

Currently, the ā€‹harp tone is not yet available, but I will prioritize adding it along with other instrument sounds as soon as possible.

Weā€™ve also developed a ā€‹custom sound upload feature to let users create unique sound combinations. Given the existing tag filtering system, text-based search isnā€™t urgent while the sound library remains small, but Iā€™ll make sure to implement it.

If you upload and create any outstanding sound combinationsā€”especially those involving harp-like tonesā€”please share them with me. Iā€™d love to hear scenarios that evoke the ambiance of a harp!

@peterwolf  Wow! This is such a creative suggestion! I absolutely love your 'text-to-ambient scene' concept - it would indeed create a unique experience for storytellers. The idea of automatically transitioning scenes along a timeline, combining narrative with ambient soundscapes, is brilliant!

I've already added this feature to our development roadmap. While it will take some time to implement (considering the complexity of smooth sound transitions and scene orchestration), it's definitely worth pursuing. When we start developing this feature, we'll definitely reach out to you for testing!

Your perspective as a novelist has given us great inspiration. Can't wait to see creators using EarthSounds to build the sonic worlds of their stories!

Hey Ired,

I live by the sea so waves are rather annoying to me, but luckily you've built in variety! :D
My usual approach to this is to stay away from noisy environments (literally I work from home lol) but I also live with parrots that could be super annoying when they are needy (literally 60% of the whole day).

Bottom line, I normally use ambient music to battle this issue. It works for a while but sometimes it is too much for me to keep my concentration lvl at the stage where I need it to be. So here we are, I am tempted to give your app a try and I will dedicate my day to it.

I'll come back with a more detailed review by tomorrow!

On the meantime, you could also check out my launch that is also due today called ArcAngels that you can find on my profile. Let's do this! Thanks for submitting your app, now I'm super curious to see how it might work on me.

Best,
The Wolf

@peterwolf Hey Wolf!

First off, parrots as coworkers sound both adorable and challenging šŸ˜„ Really appreciate you giving EarthSounds a spin!

You'll be happy to know many users combine "Cafe Ambience" with "White Noise" to mask intermittent sounds (works great for my neighbor's construction noise). The key is finding that sweet spot where the ambient layer is consistent enough to absorb sudden squawks but not overwhelming.

Pro tip: Try starting with just 2-3 sounds at lower volumes and use the Pomodoro timer to build focus stamina gradually. The "Deep Focus" preset (campfire + distant thunder) might be a good alternative if waves aren't your thing.

Will definitely check out ArcAngels - love how PH brings together makers solving real-world problems. Do let me know how EarthSounds works with your feathery colleagues' schedule, and if you need help creating a custom sound profile!

Keep soaring.
