I continue to hear good things about Digital Ocean. I watched an interview with its co-founder, @MitchWainer, and @Jason on This Week in Startups last week.

I love their Wiki.

I just switched over to them, much cheaper, lots of control, loving it. I'm also a complete server noob, and their tutorials are amazing and quite helpful.

@willimholte I switched from some shared hosting a buddy had setup for me. Def great, got a few kinks with some wordpress installs, but works perfectly and the price is fair.

@jeffbajayo Where did you switch from? We're on Amazon now, and it's pretty great for us (yay HIPAA compliance!) but I've heard good things about DO and Softlayer.

I really really love Digital Ocean. I used it last week to set up a discourse.org forum that I am going to run for the early drone community. It was incredibly simple, I had the entire thing up and running within 30 minutes on a Friday night. Haven't seen something this simple since Heroku.

I have been using DigitalOcean since they first launched, I love it so much I made a product https://snapshooter.io to help you back up your Droplets and Volumes.

Its a super simple and cheap way to get a server and can scale to what ever you need. There are great tools out there that integrate straight in, due to there great API.

Highly recommended product!

Pros:

Very simple to get setup and running for developers

Cons:

Nothing that puts me off

I've been using their NodeJS Droplet and am a very satisfied customer. Very complete and accurate installation and configuration documentation. My website (www.mysite10.com) is running on Digital Ocean.

They couldn't make it any easier for how difficult I thought it would be to launch my first site www.skillsyncer.com.

Pros:

Intuitive and great UI. Even better documentation and support.

Cons:

None yet

Funny story in short - I wanted to open a new DigitalOcean account to use it as base platform for my planned reseller hosting business. Well, they didn't even let me create an account - instead they sent me an email written in surprisingly rude and humiliating style, accusing me being a spammer or scammer or something similar. I replied, OK, guys, you can close this ticket, I can't take this seriously, but you just lost a good business. This is how I got to Vultr - and it's a happy ending, because my experience so far is that they are helpful and user-friendly, and offer the range of services I'll need for my biz. But, based on other reviews, Linode is also way better than DO, so I don't really understand the hype.

I used to work with AWS for most of my professional cloud life. However, after a lot of considerations for my own business, I decided to go with DigitalOcean ! There are two main reasons for it: ease of use (that's a big one) and "they work so hard to help their clients! Great job guys!
