When you search "math test" on Google, what do you find? That's right. A bunch of "2 plus 3 equals what" and other computational nonsense that has very little to do with mathematics and what mathematicians do. So you've gotta think to yourself, "how can this society have fallen so low?" And alas, that's where the Higher Math Proficiency Test comes in. In a nutshell, it's one of the few tests out there that's inspired by entrance tests for mathematicians — yet tailored to the general public. The goal? To assess a series of keystone skills needed for tackling mathematics at a serious level. These include: - Some basic chop at understanding the higher math language - Extended logical reasoning skills - Extended problem solving skills - Extended mathematical thinking skill In fact, if you manage to finish it, you are probably better most of us here in North America, and if you don't, well, at least you know you've got some work to do! So that's the story of mathematics at this side of the corner. Class dismissed. Now it's time for the test.
