From once-in-a-lifetime events to everyday moments, Day One’s elegant interface makes journaling about your life a simple pleasure. Capture life as you live it.
Six months ago, Day One 3.0 for iOS was launched — so it's exciting to see the Mac app also get a matching update focused on speed, performance, and long-term maintainability, as well as some enhancements:
- New: Single-entry window
- New: Editor selection and text formatting menus
I didn't like your iOS app initially, but now that I've seen a Mac version, Day One is very appealing! If I install a journaling habit in the future, I'll be using this.
Also, for me a yearly calendar view would be useful, where you can scroll up and down through months.
Pros:
- Beautiful design and intuitive navigation.
- Convenient formatting with an option to clear all effects (!).
- Custom font.
Cons:
- Couldn't readily find shortcuts, only discovered them buried in settings.
Day One is one of the few apps that I pay for. I tried Journey, Evernote, Dropbox Paper, Typora, and Google docs + Google Calendar for journaling. What made Day One stand out was the photos and the calendar views. If you don't need those, you can get by with other solutions but they really make a difference.
As you long as they don't make breaking changes, I'll be a lifetime customer 😎
(Recently, they made a breaking change with Android where we aren't able to edit anymore)
Day One is a great product for not only journalling but also all sorts of note-taking purposes. I use it almost every day.
Mac v3 brings much-needed feature and performance improvements over the previous version. Nice work!

Awesome app. Recommend highly.
Pros:Slick, beautiful, easy.
Cons:None.
The newest editor is so slick. I love inline markdown being changed to rich text on the spot.
Pros:Amazing design, and one that brings me back to journaling over and over.
Cons:I can't think of a con.
