I’m Maxi, creator of Controol — a simple app I built because I was tired of feeling guilty every time I spent money.
Most personal finance tools focus on what you spent.
But this isn’t about tracking the past — it’s about knowing how much you can spend today.
That small shift changed everything for me.
So I built Controol. You just register your income, assign your own percentages (like 50/30/20), and it splits your money into virtual boxes. That way, you always know how much you can spend in each category — no spreadsheets, no stress.
Controol is for people who want clarity with their money, not complexity.
Would love for you to try it, and I’d be super grateful for your feedback 🙏
Thanks for checking it out!
Right now, Controol doesn’t adjust percentages automatically, but it gives you full visibility over how you’re using each box. If you’re constantly running out in one or not using another, you’ll notice it quickly.
Plus, you can ask the built-in AI chat if your current percentage setup makes sense based on your actual income and spending. It’ll help you reflect and suggest smarter distribution — without taking control away from you.
We’re working to make those insights even more personalized over time.
@natalia_eiriz Thank you so much Natalia! Really appreciate your kind words — and I’m so glad the mindset shift behind Controol resonated with you.
I built it exactly for that: to reduce the stress and guilt around money, not add more of it.
Would love to hear what you think after trying it out!
Maxi, this is such a refreshing take on personal finance — and a much-needed one! 🙌
That shift from “what did I spend?” to “what can I spend?” hits hard — it’s so simple, yet it completely reframes how we think about budgeting. Love how Controol brings that to life with zero fluff, just clear guidance.
💡 A few things I’m loving:
✨ Virtual boxes with real-time clarity — no more post-purchase guilt.
🧠 Brain-friendly percentages instead of micromanaging every cent.
🛠️ No spreadsheets = no excuses. Clean and approachable.
Curious:
Is there a way to track irregular income (like freelance or side gigs)?
Do the virtual boxes “reset” each month or roll over unused amounts?
Honestly feels like the “YNAB but less intense” that a lot of folks have been looking for. Cheers on shipping something so thoughtful — giving it a spin now! 🙌💸
I’m glad that shift from “what did I spend?” to “what can I spend?” resonated with you. That mindset has changed the way I handle my money, and Controol was born from exactly that idea.
To answer your questions:
Yes, you can track as many income entries as you need — including freelance, side gigs, or irregular cash flow. Just add them manually whenever they come in.
No, the virtual boxes don’t reset automatically each month. Whatever you don’t spend stays there and rolls over — because life isn’t always monthly, and your system shouldn’t be either.
Love that YNAB comparison by the way — that’s exactly the sweet spot I was aiming for.
Congrats on the launch, Maxi! 🎉 As someone who also feels that instant guilt after spending—especially on unplanned stuff—this mindset shift is everything. Love how Controol focuses on permission, not punishment.
Small suggestion: Could the AI nudge us with proactive tips? Like a friendly finance consultant going ‘Hey, your ‘Fun Money’ box is getting low—maybe skip that latte?’ 😅 Either way, brilliant work!
@rani_zagita Thank you so much, Zagita! This means a lot — especially coming from someone who feels that instant guilt like I used to. That shift in mindset was exactly why I built Controol, and it’s so cool to hear it resonated with you.
And your suggestion? I LOVE it.
A friendly nudge from the AI like “Your Fun box is low, maybe skip that latte?” — that’s exactly the tone I want to bring in. I’ll definitely explore this as we evolve the assistant’s capabilities.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback!
Congrats on the launch, Maxi! Excited to see Controol offering a new perspective on personal finance. Looking forward to using the app to manage expenses better.
@maxi_carreras This is simple but it could potentially have a large market 😄 because Expense Tracking is a very common need that everyone has. If a new idea can significantly improve people's experience, there may be a huge number of users coming in. Track it later on.
@shenjun Thanks so much — really appreciate this perspective! That was the whole idea: take something universal and make it feel effortless and empowering. I’m definitely planning to iterate based on feedback and see how far it can go!
Was excited to sign up, sounds like a great idea/tool only to get as far as the 'select country' field and find mine is not supported.
Of interest, is this due to some sort of currency related limitations or issue?
Following that do you plan on adding other countries and if so at what sort of timeline?
@g_mane Thanks so much for checking it out, Grant! That country selection step is mostly to help tailor the default currency and language — there aren’t any hard restrictions yet, but I can see how that part can be confusing or limiting.
Out of curiosity, which country are you from? I’d love to make sure it’s prioritized as I expand support.
@migma Thanks a lot! That means a lot — would love to hear any feedback from your team at Migma if you get a chance to try it out. Always open to improving!
That mindset shift — from “what did I spend?” to “what can I spend today?” — is so underrated. Most apps guilt-trip you with graphs. This actually sounds like it gives you peace of mind.
Just tried Controol and love how lightweight and intuitive it feels. No fluff, just clarity. Excited to see where you take this, Maxi! 💸✨
@parth_ahir Wow — this means a lot. You captured the core of what I was trying to build better than I ever could 😅 I really believe budgeting shouldn’t feel like punishment — it should feel like permission. That shift brought me peace of mind, and I wanted others to feel that too.
So glad you tried it and found it helpful. Thanks for the kind words and energy — it keeps me building. 💪

@maxi_carreras can it dynamically adjust the percentages or suggest reallocation strategies over time?

In my opinion, this is one of the best types of money management products for households.
Is there an option to add family members?
Controol App
@busmark_w_nika Thank you! That means a lot.
Adding family members is definitely something we’re planning to include in the future — it makes total sense for households.
In the meantime, you can log in to the same account from multiple devices. So if you want to share access, it’s already possible that way.
Appreciate the suggestion! It helps shape what comes next.
All the best for the launch @maxi_carreras!

That means a lot — it’s exactly what I hoped Controol could do: offer a fresh, simple way to feel more in control without overcomplicating things.
