Presentify β€” Screen Annotation and Cursor Highlight for Mac
Featured

A macOS menu bar app to help you give better presentations. It lets you annotate any screen, highlight your cursor, and more. It is the perfect tool for online teaching, recording tutorials, giving a demo or a presentation, working remotely, etc.

Any plans to implement an eraser tool that just erases the line/shape that get crossed by the eraser stroke in addition to clearing the entire screen? Furthermore: Are there plans to display the pressed keys on screen, as well?
Ram Patra
@boettges hey, I am not sure how to implement the eraser as the background is transparent (I need to do some more research on this) but I do have a plan to select any drawing and delete that specific drawing. In fact, you can move, scale, rotate the selected drawing and not just delete. I think this somewhat matches your requirement. Regarding the keystrokes, I actually thought of adding this feature in Presentify itself but Apple has some rules on this and it won't allow such apps on its Mac App Store. Ergo, I decided to create a separate app for this and sell it elsewhere and not on Mac App Store. I will start working on it after I add some essential features in Presentify.

Thanks, @stevendixonn for the hunt. Coincidentally, I planned to launch today on PH too. Btw, can I edit this? I wanted to add an animated logo (I took some time yesterday to make one so as to keep up the trend here on PH), some screenshots, and other minor changes if you don't mind.
Ram Patra
Hello all πŸ‘‹, I am the maker of Presentify here. Quite excited to see the app on PH and happy to take any questions that you might have. I had this idea for quite some time but given that most of us are now WFH, I thought there couldn’t be a better time to kill my procrastination and finally build it. I am sharing a few promo codes here that you can redeem on Mac App Store and get the app completely free. This is the least I could do for all your support. I have a couple of features lined up for the upcoming versions and I think you’d love them. I hope it’s useful and you enjoy using it πŸ™‚ 🌟Some of the interesting features that were added recently: - Hold down the shift key and draw to form a straight line - New drawing shapes like rectangles, circles, and arrows - New cursor highlighting styles - Annotate on a whiteboard - Multi-screen support - Undo/Redo your annotations - And, a lot more πŸ™ŒI can assure you that the interface would remain simple and easy to use. 🎁Promo Codes for Mac App Store: HJENHHHWWP3W WNRE9RTTMLNF KEREPRAFEAYA I would also share a couple of more promo codes randomly (in some time) when I see much traction here. Thanks once again πŸ™

Great product! Bought this earlier today. I posted this on HN but will do so here too: - Could you add the ability to take screenshots? With Mac OS, I take a screenshot and then annotate using markup, would like to be able to screenshot whatever annotations I've made using your tool itself. - After annotating, pressing the eraser button deletes all of my annotations. I'm clumsy with annotations, would like there to be an option to undo/redo, or erase specific annotations, as opposed to wiping out the entire screen.
Ram Patra
@prithsr Thanks for your compliment. I think I saw your comment on HN but somehow missed to reply back. Sorry for that. - Regarding taking screenshots on mac: macOS has in-built tool to take screenshots already. You can easily take a screenshot of the entire page with ⌘ + ⇧ + 3 keyboard shortcut or a section of the page with ⌘ + ⇧ + 4. And, when you do, it captures your annotations, etc. - Undo button will be added in the next release. Yes, I definitely get you. It is a crucial feature. Eraser will be added in later version if not in the next version. Hope this helps and thanks once again!

Yeah the Mac screenshot tool I'm familiar with, let me rephrase what I meant. When I take a screenshot with mac's CMD + shift + 5, Mac OS Catalina lets you use markup tools to annotate on the screenshot and save it automatically. I just thought that using Presentify to markup and then using Mac's native screenshot tool would sort of be counterintuitive, as I'm going back to Mac's native features. And considered that after annotating on Presentify, being able to press a command (Enter? CMD + Enter? whatever it is) could have been a bit faster, and not make me have to default back to the Mac's screenshot tool. Looking forward to the undo feature!
Ram Patra
@prithsr Command + Shift + 3 silently takes the screenshot and saves it on your Desktop or somewhere else. It *doesn't* open the default Mac's annotate tools so it won't come in your way of annotating. Ergo, you can take the screenshot with it easily. I do not see a difference here actually. Even if I include it in Presentify there would be a key shortcut like the above. Having said that, I may include screenshot functionality in Presentify as the default screen capture will also capture the annotate controls which many users may not want. However, when I add the ability to minimize the controls even this use case won't be there anymore. But, I will add this feature to suit the convenience of users. Btw, the undo/redo feature was added in 2.0. Do try it out and let me know if you have any further questions. More features are coming in a day or two. Stay tuned! ✌️

@rampatra Presentify looks amazing. Any Plans to make it for Windows?
Ram Patra
@vicksu thanks but no plans for Windows as of now. However, you can request on https://presentify-ideas.herokua... and if I get a good number of votes, I can prioritize it.
