Channels DVR turns the Channels app into a full fledged DVR. Record what you're currently watching, search for your favorite show, and create a Series Pass to never miss an episode…all from the Channels app.
Pause in the living room and resume it in the kitchen on your iPad. Finish a show at the gym on your iPhone. It works everywhere.
Saving us thousands a year. Live TV is flawless, the DVR has been rock solid, commercial skip is better than any I've used in the last 10 years, whole home solution lets me start watching in one room and pick it up where you left off in another. This was the third solution I tried and is miles ahead of the competition. AppleTV is a must, which is perfect for me, but if that doesn't fit your needs keep looking.
Pros:Fantastic whole home DVR, Apple ecosystem friendly
Cons:No annual subscription option, Apple ecosystem friendly
Using network tuners gives me the ability of using more than one antenna pointing in opposite directions. I receive more than 100 Channels, to be honest many are not worth having.....just like cable.
Pros:DVR, Commerical Skip, Network Tuner
Cons:None that I know.
Have been using ore or less since day 1 and was a UK private beta tester for DVR. Now I have one box and one remote for my tv, music, movies, photos and apps.
Pros:Superb interface, most responsive developer support I’ve ever experienced
Cons:None for me. It just works.
InVision
This app should come bundled with the Apple TV. It feels like the "missing piece" of my home theater setup.
PS: I should add, my Plex recordings are janky too, so it's probably a ghost in my setup, but holy moly I've tried troubleshooting this thing and still can't nail it. You'll probably have better luck.
Pros:Top notch interface (feels native on my Apple TV), whole home antenna
Cons:Sometimes recordings are janky (but live time shifting is perfect)
