Not "new" per se - Canary popped up earlier this year, and it still in the pre-order phase - but a very compelling looking product that promises to disrupt the home security business.
I preordered the Canary after their kickstarter ended. Loved the device. The app on Android was flaky for a year, but steadily improved. Until they added membership. Then they slowly took away all the features I loved and moved them to membership. Now I have a live streaming camera, not a security device.
Pros:
Great design - quality hd video recording
Cons:
Canary screwed their long time supporters by crippling the camera unless you pay monthly $$$
Can't help but hope that Nest is working on something similar. They seem positioned perfectly for a similar product with deeper integration to whole home automation.
