Ha! A lot of people hatin' this dumb/smart can. I remember when a friend's dad had one of the first cars with a built-in phone, coiled cord and all. It was the coolest thing on the block, and in the then emerging mobile telecommunications world. Now, looking back, it's laughable. The Internet of Things will take a generation to mature; In the meantime, we'll see a lot of devices that are completely unnecessary (and even ridiculous)—but they're part of the groundwork story that has to play out so the really useful IoT devices can follow.
I was going to say it should integrate with a smart dustpan. And then I realized it is a smart dustpan too. Wow, I didn't need to go to CES to see the future after all.
Some household items just don't need to be made "smart".
Also, it doesn't apply here, but just because some products can "Work with Nest", doesn't mean they should. I had a nightmare recently that a smart toilet was launched with Nest compatibility.
