It all started on a late Saturday evening in Chicago. Pacquiao was set to fight Adrien Broner, and I was determined to watch the match at a bar with a cold drink in hand. But after calling five different places, I hit the same brick wall: "We don’t show boxing," "We don’t do PPV," or even worse, "I have no idea what fight you're talking about." It was frustrating. I knew the fight schedule, I knew the network, but what if everyone else didn’t?
That night, I realized something. If I could build tools to close this gap, I wouldn’t have to ask anymore—and neither would other boxing fans. So, I got to work. The first version of Boxing Showtimes was simple: a schedule and bar locator for iOS, built entirely by me in Swift. It proved its worth quickly—fans wanted it, needed it. Over time, I rewrote it in React, expanding it to Android and web, and suddenly we were gaining thousands of users.
Today, Boxing Showtimes is miles beyond what it started as. What was once a simple tool is now a fully-fledged boxing app, offering everything from boxer profiles and event reminders to streaming guides, polls, and real-time news. The journey hasn’t been easy—there’s been plenty of grind, sleepless nights, and tough lessons—but I’m not alone anymore. I’ve built a team, the strongest and most creative people I’ve ever worked with. We’ve learned everything from the ground up, pushing through every challenge.
Now, as the app continues to evolve, I’m endlessly grateful for the support we’ve had along the way. And though our journey isn’t over, we’re more excited than ever to keep growing, bringing the world of boxing closer to its fans, one update at a time!
