blogmail was created for blog power users who want email newsletters in their blog, without having to manage extra services. additionally, it's meant for people who value privacy and want to build trust with their audience by never spamming them.

Hey Makers 👋 I created blogmail to scratch my own personal itch: I wanted a simple way to create email newsletters on my Netlify hosted static blog, but I didn't want it to be spammy. My blog already has RSS (it's a Hugo-based site) so I decided to use the RSS feed to power the newsletter. There is TONS of good content out there, and I would love get an email when there's an update from great bloggers, but I don't want them to get my personal contact details. This gives people an alternative to receiving newsletters that doesn't require them to sign up for anything, and when they click the "Unsubscribe" button they are *actually* being unsubscribed instead of just having a flag toggled in the database. I'm serious about privacy. Whenever I see the "give me your email" box in a blog, I know in most cases I'll end up receiving spam from them for the rest of my life because they're probably using it for marketing purposes. Enter blogmail: my hope with blogmail is to build some brand awareness between readers and bloggers, and people will recognize the blogmail name and feel more trusting entering their email address because it's never shared with the host. The implementation is similar to Stripe: there's a tiny secure iframe you embed in your site with a newsletter ID (that you must create), and voila, you're ready to run your newsletter. Anyway, if you run your own blog and were thinking of starting a newsletter, feel free to give blogmail a shot and send me your feedback! Cheers, Brenden
