Discover the best new plant-based, gluten-free and other allergen friendly food products. Vote for your favorites and see the top results within any product or dietary category. Share product comments or reviews with the community.
Looks like a pretty good range of products listed, could use some icons for some of the categories though. Social options would make signup a lot easier (putting in my vote for Sign in with Apple as a privacy-conscious but easier option too).
Worth noting the class action waiver and mandatory arbitration agreement in terms of service (although for some reason clicking on the Bestie logo on that page, and on the privacy policy page, doesn't return you to the homepage).
Have to say the app feels pretty janky though.
Trying it on an iPhone 11 Pro but I can barely tap the middle 3 icons on the bottom tab bar as they overlap the iOS home indicator, meaning I mostly trigger that instead – looks like there should be a lot more padding below the tab bar. The tab bar also occasionally sticks to the middle of the screen when I scroll or gets duplicated 3 times.
My status bar disappears (looks like it's white against the white background), and the app definitely feels like a website wrapped inside an app (like the loading bar across the top of the screen).
?makers Hey! I'm always happy to see products like this on Product Hunt. My wife and I are vegan and definitely find services that help people find plant-based foods useful. Since 2018, I have been developing a database of foods that are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free compatible. It might be nice to get in touch to talk about a potential partnership!
Hi Product Hunt!
This is Dan from the Bestie.co team. We're launching Bestie 2.0 as a new app to discover and discuss new specialty food products that are plant-based or allergen friendly. We received a ton of great feedback from the Product Hunt community for our first release that helped us refine our design and pick this vertical.
We're still a small team building on Bubble and we'd absolutely love to hear your feedback on the new product discovery experience. We'll be checking in to listen to your feedback answer any questions! Thank you! 🙏
@dankusbit hey signed up in the first launch! I know you briefly mentioned going into this vertical so I'm guessing a lot of the users that signed up fit that frame? Also, will you be expanding or just keeping things within the food realm? just curious from another consumer maker!
@edisonjoao6871 Hey Edison, great question and thanks for checking us out! Part of our struggle with version one was marketing the product since it was so broad, and most of the spaces we covered (restaurant recs, book recs, recipes, etc.) were already cornered by standalone apps that did one thing very well (eg, goodreads). We also found that it was a huge hurdle for users to think of and generate their own content to add to their profile (users often compared version one to a note-taking app) whereas now we are putting more emphasis on the discovery experience and we upload products ourselves for other users to see and interact with. Also before pivoting we did a lot of research in diet based facebook groups (theres a ton) where people are always discussing the best special diet food products. To our knowledge we are the only discovery and review platform for plant based and other special diet food products. For now we'll be keeping it in the food realm and we'll see how it goes!
@dankusbit gotcha! thank you for sharing the insight, I'm also learning and seeing a lot of things for the consumer product I'm working on so it's great to see other's in the space pivoting, learning, adjusting. Love it! Good luck man!
Hi @dankusbit ,
Great job.
