I read this a year ago. It still holds up and is important.

1984 is one of those transformative books that everyone should read. It's chilling and absurd, yet shockingly applicable to today's world, especially given its age. If you want to understand the risks of a police state, or if you're just looking for an interesting, enjoyable sci-fi thriller, 1984 is highly recommended.
