It's exciting to see Alphaworks open new opportunities for funding and a direct connection between makers and consumers. We'll see more businesses participate in this space.

Betaworks's Alphaworks is one of the newer entrants to the equity crowdfunding space. Unlike AngelList, the platform is used to fund a much smaller set of carefully curated startups, with a particular focus on those with a strong community of users and customers. Its association with a brand like Betaworks has also helped it stand out from competitors and attract great companies. I hope to see Alphaworks grow to a point where it funds the best of the best—companies that might otherwise avoid crowdfunding sites entirely.
