1Password 8 now includes a built-in SSH agent. Developers can use it to generate, store, and access SSH keys, autofill public keys into popular tools like GitHub and GitLab, and authenticate Git and other SSH workflows in the terminal with biometric unlock.

Hi Hunters! I am beyond excited to announce what we’ve been working on at 1Password lately. If you read Hacker News you’ll know the cat’s already out of the bag, but let me make it official: 1Password now includes a built-in SSH agent! Managing your SSH keys is a pain. You know it, I know it, every developer that starts their day in git knows it. So we did what we do best: we made the entire process of managing your SSH keys both more secure and easier. In a nutshell: 1Password can now create new SSH keys, safely store them, and make them available everywhere you need them with just a few clicks. We’ve fielded requests for this going all the way back to 2012(!) and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. SSH functionality is part of 1Password Developer Tools: a suite of features in 1Password 8 designed to simplify and secure your development workflows. Happy hunting!
