How Wispr Flow found PMF through a pivot
... Voice dictation just wasn t good enough to get people to adopt it as a habit and replace their keyboard as their default input. It didn t matter how good the hardware was if the software wasn t ready. Luckily, we realized we had already been building two companies in parallel: one for the Wispr hardware and one for Flow software. But we were still a small startup. We knew we could only get one thing ... ... that, we weren't even a consumer software company. By January, we were seeing long posts on LinkedIn and X about how the product had changed people s lives. We also saw ~20% of our users convert to paid (vs

Work ethic: Do you think a 4-day work week will bring efficiency?
... week (8 working hours), and home office is a privilege. I personally see it as a very expensive way of functioning at work, especially when unpaid travel is a waste of time and money. So I am pretty lucky to be remote because I can dedicate time to work instead of travelling and am more focused. Comment from Seth Monk(@sethmonk): @busmark_w_nika  I am an employee! I find it exciting, I like the all hands on deck ... ... smarter. However, with my current startup still in its initial stage, there s too much on everyone s plate for me to offer that same flexibility right now. Keeping up with AI - the only way to survive?

I self hosted N8N and Deepseek as well ready for learning and researched a few options for #4. ... well does it actually work? Comment from Rajiv Ayyangar(@rajiv_ayyangar): @jonayed_tanjim  I'm not close enough to Webhooks to understand if this is a valuable problem to solve. But if this is a common build vs buy decision, my general feeling is that all of these decisions for Dev/Infra will move towards buy. Do you have customers yet? I always liked that moment of suspense before the numbers drop, and thought: why not recreate that experience, just for fun or maybe even to pick your own numbers and give you some luck someday in winning It s super simple, but there s something weirdly satisfying about watching the balls spin around before they re drawn. Should you offer free access when launching a paid product on Product Hunt?
... trial that gives people enough time to evaluate during the launch buzz, but converts them to paid after. I've seen successful launches using all three approaches, but I'm curious what actually works better for building genuine momentum versus just getting empty upvotes. What's your experience launching paid products on PH? Do you think the community expects some level of free access, or are people fine paying if the value is clear? And does it affect your chances ... ... understand whether I will actually use it or not. Many people who see a payment option right away without a trial period simply won t pay for the product. This is how we're surviving against funded competitors for our vibe coding platform.
... build mobile apps. Soon hitting 50 new signups daily. All these signups came with massive LLM costs. Starting with just ~$4K, we burned through 30% of our budget in the first week with only $260 MRR. Our well-funded competitors offered 5 free code gen requests daily (30/month), while we provided just 1 request/user lifetime. Talked to users, they wanted to explore platform for free but even with our minimal free tier, costs were eating up our savings. Traffic kept ... ... blogs. We approached VCs but got no replies. We pivoted to a paid-only model after burning 60% of our funds. Still getting ~50 daily signups from our @daily.dev blog, but users expected the same free plans as competitors

How to not break up with your cofounder
... Proactivity Giving people autonomy Transparency Being ambitious And we both dislike: Fluffy, enterprise sales BS Hypothetical plans where no one does anything Pointless meetings We didn t talk about these things before we started working together, we just got lucky, but they are fundamental to why we work well together. These values have shaped everything we do at the company, and ensure that even when we disagree on specifics, we can trace things back to a shared value ... ... very different values, I m certain we d have failed long ago. So, when you go looking for your cofounder, think and talk about what values you share, because you probably won t luck
