I’ve seen so much advice about partnering with well-known Hunters for your PH launch. But does it really move the needle? Anyone have real numbers or war stories? Also, how to find and approach them?
I think it can make a difference. If I see a product backed by Chris Messina, I am more likely to trust the thing he helps to launch. It is a more psychological effect for me.
I would like to mention that the more followers the hunter has, the more people (their followers) will be notified via email and also via the PH notification.
I like this topic. Reading through the comments, I see everyone saying Hunters help to get you a successful launch, which is true mostly if they have a large following. My question is, after you get the numbers for the upvote, do they turn into real conversions? Do they sign up for your product and use it? I would think that's the main goal of a launch, or is it just to get the upvote?
@divine_ Great question, Divine. I’m also curious if there are any stats on the upvotes-to-user ratio. One thing is clear: Product Hunt acts as a form of social proof for new users.
@artinbogdanov it does in most of the cases - especially if the hunter is a reputed & credible one (not launching anything & everything ) . I am launching on 8th with @kevin this time, is really good - maybe you can reach out to him.
Kinda Artin - a hunter is know as a person with strong following & great past launch experience - when he/ she launches along along side you and your team, the hunter's network gets notified, and that adds to your upvotes.
Most hunters don't charge but you can always put in a token of appreciation of buy them a coffee :)

@busmark_w_nika I see. That makes sense. Thanks, Nika, your answers are always really helpful!
@artinbogdanov Thank you, Artin! 🥹
imho you should take into account the target audience, too.
different interests, different followers.

@artinbogdanov anytime! Btw Artin we are going live today, in the next 30 mins - would love you & your team to check out your launch!
I’m still figuring out PH myself, but one thing’s clear, it’s a community first platform.
“How do I approach a top hunter?” feels like the wrong question. Like any community, trust comes from showing up, not pitching cold.
It’s like affiliate marketing, you only buy from someone who actually believes in what they’re sharing. Hunters are no different.
They don’t have to be users, but they need to believe in the product, the concept, the direction it’s heading.
@adam_martelletti I see, thanks for sharing your perspective, Adam.
Thanks Artin for posting this. I too had submitted this topic to PH team just 2-3 days back.
From the comments, it looks like engaging a hunter helps.
Another question, how soon do you engage a hunter? Is 1 week before launch good enough?
@manu_goel2 Another great question. Anyone?
