Hey everyone👋, I'm Daniel, Co-founder at Gitsecure. About a month ago, we noticed our engineers constantly returning to VS Code after every review on their PR. They had to make necessary updates based on the feedback. We also saw many tools that automated code review in PRs, but after each review, we still had to go back to VS Code to implement the required updates. This led us to think: what if we could get code reviews directly inside of VS Code, even before pushing the code to GitHub or making a PR? This idea led to the birth of Wasps just weeks later. Think of Wasps as Grammarly, but for code. The Alpha version is currently available and completely free. Here’s what Wasps can do for you: 1. Generate code summaries 2. Perform code quality analysis 3. Conduct code security analysis 4. Provide fix recommendations Your feedback is important to us! Help us build Wasps by installing it using the link below: Wasps on VS Code Marketplace

@adeboyedn Hi Daniel, Congrats on launching Wasps on Product Hunt! The concept of in-IDE code review sounds like a valuable time-saver for developers. Here are some questions and how I can help: - Can Wasps take into account the specific project or codebase when making suggestions and recommendations? - Does Wasps integrate with existing code review tools or platforms developers might already be using (e.g., GitHub, GitLab)? As a developer, I'm interested in the technical aspects behind the AI-powered code analysis and integration with VS Code. If those align with my expertise (natural language processing, VS Code extensions), I might be able to contribute to future development. Overall, Wasps seems like a promising tool for streamlining code review and improving code quality directly within the development workflow. I'd love to learn more about contextual awareness and potential integrations with existing platforms. I'll definitely check out the Alpha version!

@max_savonin1 Hi Max, Thanks for your comment. Wasps is still in its earliest stages, and we currently don't take into account the specific project or codebase when making suggestions and recommendations. What we do now is use the code block or file around the code you want to review as context. We plan to improve this process based on the feedback we receive. Wasps currently integrates with Gitsecure, a platform that helps developers find, prioritize, and fix code vulnerabilities faster, in real-time. We also leverage GPT-4 for advanced code analysis and recommendations. I hope this helps. PS: We are the team behind Gitsecure.

@adeboyedn Under the hood are you using GPT-4 or Claude?
Daniel Adeboye
@intern_quest We currently use GPT-4

Congratulations on the launch! The market of AI code assistants seems to be pretty saturated, but it's still great to see some new solutions. What would you say is the biggest difference from other competitors?
Daniel Adeboye
@semanser Hi Andriy, Thanks for your support. Wasps isn’t a code generation tool like Copilot and others. Instead, it focuses on performing code reviews directly inside your IDE. You can think of it as having a senior engineer reviewing your code as you write it, similar to how code reviews are done in PRs. In summary, we complement tools like Copilot by ensuring the quality of the code they generate. I hope this helps clarify your question.

As someone with development experience, I can't wait to try it out, especially its code quality analysis and security analysis features. These functions are crucial for any developer who wants to write high-quality, secure code. They are particularly valuable in the early stages of a team when there are quality requirements, but the team might not be fully staffed. Moreover, providing such analysis reports to leaders or project managers is very necessary. For developers, it can save a lot of review time. I look forward to seeing the results after using it.
