During its early years, TiddlyWiki 5 had the tag line “a reboot of TiddlyWiki for the next 25 years”. I wanted to communicate my commitment to keeping TiddlyWiki going as long as I could, and my desire to architect it in such a way as to make that possible. At that point, 25 years in the other direction was 1986; not much software from that era was still in common usage apart from Unix.
We’re now 11 years until we get to that 25 year mark and so we are talking about the longer term future and where we want TiddlyWiki to be by then.
TiddlyWiki v5.3.7 is setting the stage for v5.4.0, a major release planned for later this year. We'll be modernising the look and feel with new layouts and palettes, introducing WYSIWYG editing, section links, improved Markdown compatibility and powerful extensions to the filtering language.
If you are already a TiddlyWiki user, we would appreciate it very much if you could take our brief Community Survey 2025. Your feedback is essential to shaping the future of TiddlyWiki.
TiddlyWiki 5.3.7 redefines note-taking with a true offline, privacy-first design—no cloud lock-in. This unique non-linear notebook captures, organizes, and shares complex information without vendor lock-in.
