I've been searching for the perfect todo list since forever, this one is not it...yet. I'm taking what I like from lots of todo-list apps, and dropping what I don't like. My wife likes it, my children think it's cool, maybe you'll like it too. :)
I'm a chronic procrastinator, but somehow I'm actually launching something?? Like, I actually kept working on this for more than my usual 5 minutes before abandoning it.
I LOVE todo lists. I read about productivity but also about focus/attention/minimalism, and hunting for the best way to live and get stuff done which I care about. I've tried literally every app. When Wunderlist, Astrid, and Orchestra got killed off, I was genuinely sad. So I kept trying to build my own and kept killing it off.
Throughout the years, every time I wanted to learn a new programming language, I'd restart the whole thing from scratch like some kind of crazy person.
But this time I picked it up again because I wanted to learn Claude Code and GitHub Copilot (my previous boss and friend is super into agentic coding and got me obsessed). I rebuilt 90% of what took me 4-5 months last time in like 10 hours. I tried explaining to my wife why this was mind-blowing but she just stared at me, so now I don't tell her about my progress anymore. We just watch Dexter until she goes to bed, then I sneak back to coding.
The app is supposed to be simple - just a chronological list of all your stuff from overdue to someday. Nothing fancy. That's it. That's what I wanted. But then I keep adding "just one more little feature" and suddenly there's tags and notes, calendar, kanban and... yeah, you know how it goes :D
My wife uses it for shopping lists and assigning me tasks (yes I delete some when she's not looking). My kids have left me some notes in it that honestly make me tear up, which is why I'm paranoid about keeping the production database safe.
This is my first time launching anything properly (am I even doing this right??) so yeah... hoping someone else finds this useful? I'll keep working on it either way because I need it to exist.
There's a feedback thing in the app if you want to tell me stuff.
Ok I'll stop rambling now π
Oh, one more thing, before I built the premium version, I had this "brilliant" idea to ask for donations to make the software pay for itself. If you want to see how little I've collected so far, please take a look π https://symphonytodo.com/donations
