Codebuff is a tool for editing codebases via natural language. Just npm install it, point it at your directory, and you're off to the races! Codebuff automatically pulls any files it needs for context, so it has the most accurate data to solve your problems. It also runs terminal commands for you, to speed up your own development. Our users have found that they can build apps in hours that used to take weeks. Some even use it to build in languages they've never used before!

Hey Product Hunt, Codebuff was born from our frustration of trying to find a simple, yet highly effective coding assistant. There are many out there, but none have a true understanding of our codebases. Common solutions like Cursor and Github Copilot often hallucinate parts of our tech stack and completely misunderstood the context of our messages. They also need us to use their IDE, requiring us to fit into their workflows. Codebuff is different. - It chooses files to read automatically on each message — unlike Cursor’s composer feature. This saves you time and makes Codebuff more focused and useful for every task. - It takes 0 clicks — Codebuff just edits your files directly (you can always peek at the git diffs to see what it’s doing). So theoretically, you can do all your development by just chatting with it! - It has full access to your existing tools, scripts, and packages — Codebuff can install packages, run terminal commands and tests, etc. Whatever awk/grep/pip install stuff you used to do, Codebuff can do it for you instead! - It is portable to any development environment — no lock-in here! Feel free to bring your IDE: VSCode, Cursor, Vim, Emacs, Replit, or plain text editor (if you’re a monster). Because Codebuff is just an npm package, you can install it anywhere. Get started today with a simple: npm i -g codebuff (Wanna test in a cloud-based IDE? Just fork: this CodeSandbox or this Replit Repl and follow the README.)

@brandonchen4 Btw, if you're enjoying Manicode and want to share with a friend, head to https://manicode.ai/referrals and refer them! If they use your unique link, you'll both earn 500 extra credits! :) Oh, and if you're curious, you can always check your monthly usage at https://manicode.ai/usage.

Hello everyone! It's surreal to be launching an app that some of our users say is better than Cursor. 3.5 months ago Manicode was just my hackathon project. It was a hacky script that tried to read your codebase and write code for you. It was bad. In the hackathon presentations, my demo failed repeatedly. But Manicode has come along way. What makes it better? Consider our first scheduled user interview with a 42 year old guy from Illinois. We had no idea if he would like Manicode. He typed in one request to Manicode, saw that it had changed a several files a few seconds later, and examined the result. Boom -- he had a visible "aha" moment. Manicode is good because it is simple. There's only one mode and it works well. You just chat and it makes changes anywhere in your codebase that it needs to. If you know Cursor, it's like going into the composer writing "@codebase", but having the system fetch even more relevant files. We do more work behind the scenes to get relevant context. I know there are many ways in which Manicode is not up to par, but it's improving rapidly. Join us on our journey! Give it a shot, and then come by our Discord to say hi! https://discord.gg/npAHCB4t > npm i -g manicode

I just shipped my first feature with Manicode, and it's awesome! I've felt torn between using the state of the art with things like Cursor or Continue and using my favorite editor, Neovim. With Manicode I can just split my terminal with Neovim on one side and Manicode on the other. I'm really excited about this. Congrats on launching!

@dnsbty that's exactly our hope – we want Manicode to fit into _your_ developer workflows, not the other way around!
