The HelpCenter.io plugin for ChatGPT makes it even easier for anybody to start and maintain a knowledge base. You can use ChatGPT as your knowledge base assistant and let it do most of the work in analyzing and suggesting ideas for content improvements.
I am the founder of HelpCenter.io, a SaaS that allows companies quickly build a knowledge base for their customers (the one with FAQs and help articles most businesses have).
Recently, I decided to build a plugin for ChatGPT with the initial idea to allow our users generate ideas and work on their HelpCenter.io knowledge base in a conversational manner. The information that ChatGPT gets access to is not limited to the categories and articles in a help center, but also includes the stats like feedback left, and search queries performed. The results that ChatGPT showed with this plugin were astonishing. It feels like you have a new member on your knowledge base team but one that does their work well. It will look into the data of your help center and do with it just about anything you can think of.
Here are a few of the use cases that we identified:
- Write scrappy drafts of your articles into HelpCenter.io and let ChatGPT rewrite and polish them into a nice help article.
- Categorize your content - just write everything you have and ask ChatGPT to categorize the articles.
- Translate your whole knowledge base into any language supported by ChatGPT.
- Based on your help center stats and search queries performed, generate ideas for new help articles and FAQs.
- Use your existing already answered customer support emails/tickets and turn them into help articles.
I am genuinely excited about the possibilities this creates. This is why I decided to share with the community here.
So far, from what I have seen, for most business, especially smaller ones, the hardest part of the knowledge base building process is actually creating some content and then maintaining it. With tools like ChatGPT integrated with your knowledge base software this process could become a lot easier and you can get your knowledge base up and running in no time following this process:
1. Using ChatGPT, create several articles based on your already answered support requests.
2. Let your new knowledge base accumulate traffic and data.
3. Use ChatGPT repeatedly to analyze the data from your help center and come up with ideas for adding new content and improving the existing.
Also imagine the possibilities when plugins would have write access to your knowledge base. Basically, ChatGPT could be your customer support assistant that can do all the knowledge base work for you.
The plugin is just about to reach the plugin store and we are looking for early adopters to help us iterate and make it even better (and possibly shape the future of how anyone would interact with their knowledge base).
