@Vercel hosted a Next.js Global Hackathon last week, and @bolt.new pushed it one step forward by announcing hackathon.dev the world s largest hackathon for non-devs and vibe coders with $1M+ in prizes!
It will start on May 30. Any plans to join it? Curious what the community will build.
Hey p/bolt-new community,
I recently started building Couples Hub (https://coupleshub.io/) a React-based application and Next.js based landing page using Bolt.new. Couples Hub is a product of my hobby brand "MD Meets Techie" which I've run for the past four years, creating digital products specifically for couples. Given my technical background, diving into Bolt.new was kind of a fun experiment (esp given how drab and boring my day job is). I noted several challenges along the way and I thought I'll share a few tips on what I've learned thus far.
Tonight, we are hosting a small hackathon in Phoenix in partnership with @bolt.new! All the hackers get free credits to build whatever they can imagine during the hackathon. Thanks Bolt for the hookup! In this forum thread, all the hackers will submit their projects and vote on their favorite one (they can't vote on their own).
The top project will get hunted on @Product Hunt by me! If you want to follow along, come back to this thread in an hour or so and the submissions will start rolling in.
Bolt.new is an incredible tool for simplifying full-stack development! The ability to create, run, and deploy applications directly from the browser without writing any code is a game changer!
Bolt is great and I've created lots of nearly functional apps with it and many websites. I don't code hence being excited to use this. The tokens are a generous amount but it's unfortunate that they still get consumed when there's errors because solving the errors can take quite a while. I wonder if the "undo" aspect should also undo the tokens used? Just from guessing i'd say 50% of mine were spent on this.
I used this to build a landing page from scratch. It was able to product a clean reactjs application that I was then able to ship via Vercel. I was also able to add some already built react components that it was able to integrate seamlessly into the page. Awesome tool worth playing around with!
bolt.new has changed everything about how I think about creating and has introduced me to my future.
It doesn't work properly. Bolt couldn't fix a simple API validation problem inside a generated app, but it consumed about four million tokens trying to do so. It seems like bolt.new doesn't support "DeepThink"-like capabilities. It negligently repeats the exact same steps and "fixes" every time. Even worse, it literally took me less than 20 seconds to locate and fix the error by myself.
