Hi Product Hunters, I’m Julia, the founder of Zidisha, a loan crowdfunding platform for entrepreneurs in developing countries. Our key approach is to bypass the local banks used by other microlending websites, and connect lenders and borrowers directly via a P2P community. This allows us to reduce the administrative cost of the loans relative to traditional programs and enable unfiltered communication between lenders and borrowers. Pay It Forward is microlending with a twist: instead of repaying lenders, the entrepreneurs repay their loans by funding other entrepreneurs on the platform. This gives entrepreneurs a more direct stake in the process, removes the burden from lenders to return to the platform to relend their funds, and preserves the recycling of funds into new projects which makes microlending such a high-impact way to help.
