Yatter is an app that takes a community based approach to scheduling social media. Users can schedule interaction, share media and chat with one other.

This helps you save time managing social media.

Yatter is free for charities and good causes. To tie in with our launch on Product Hunt we're offering lifetime access to the platform for $79.99.

Hi @richard_norman, I was trying to find a chat button to talk with you guys about the sale of the product itself, and i dont see one anywhere, which is concerning from an app sales stand point. Also, when investing in a product, I would like to see in what direction they are taking their platform. Ex: are there plans to include Linkedin pages, Pinterest, Instagram, Instagram Business, Tumblr, Google +, Google My Business, etc etc ... with team members, can i segment them, so a certain team members only have access to only the social networks i want them to see PRIOR to inviting them to my Yatter account?
Richard Norman
@brucekraftjr to chat in the app the button is at the top right next to the settings menu. If you mean a sales chat button on our marketing site then we have not done that. Thanks for the advice. As for roadmap. We do LinkedIn pages already. Instagram and Pinterest are very much on our list (if API is available). Quite a few people have asked for Google+. No-one has asked for Tumblr. You can already setup a new user within your organisation. Yatter is designed to be used by a team.
Bruce Kraft Jr.
@richard_norman with my team members, can i have certain teammates only work on certain social profiles? Yeah i would normally ask this in sales chat support, but there is none. yes that is what i was looking for.
Bruce Kraft Jr.
@richard_norman ah yes, your UI only showed Linkedin Profile, so i didnt think Pages would be possible until you told me. Thank you. Yes Google + helps with seo, especially with blog posts. Speaking of blogs, will medium be introduced as well?
Richard Norman
@brucekraftjr yes you can have certain members only able to access certain profiles.
Richard Norman
@brucekraftjr medium we have not looked at. The one we would start longer form content with would be Wordpress.

Well done guys! I'm wondering, what's the problem that the scheduled likes/retweets/etc is solving? I don't see those actions as being as time sensitive as publishing content - but interested on your take!
Richard Norman
@grantmac_ we find that small businesses especially struggle to maintain an active feed. For them it's just the activity of reminding their regular customers that they still exist. That doesn't have to be something about them. Curation is often a good solution. It's different from a content creator's perspective. Scheduling only really works for something that requires a build up and is in the future. Social media should be spontaneous. Yatter can be there to help fill in the gaps when you can't be.
Ashley Ashbee
@grantmac_ 1. It can be very time sensitive if you want your Retweet to be seen when the Tweet has just been posted. That means more eyes are likely to see your Retweet. On Twitter you grow largely through people discovering you via your engagements with Tweets, so the earlier the better. Also, there are a number of ways people can be notified that someone has Retweeted something, so Retweeting at a specific time can maximize your opportunities for people to discover such a notification. 2. It's super handy to not have to stop what you are doing to see what people have just Tweeted and engage with it promptly. It's much more efficient to do a lot of your Retweets in one visit (to Yatter), rather than having to manually do it periodically. 3. It could also be super helpful if you develop partnerships with other Yatter users, like if you are cross-promoting content. You can ensure that you've engaged with each other's content pronto. This could be super handy if you're promoting something of mutual benefit.

Hey makers! What has been the most difficult part of building this app?
Richard Norman
@jacqvon without question building for a community. Designing software for a single user is one thing but designing something that has to browse and offer users a choice is another level. Its one of the hidden lessons of software development. I am absolutely sure we still don't have it right. I don't think we will ever have it perfect.
Samantha Marshall
@jacqvon @richard_norman I have to say, as an early adopter of this platform, that when I have gone back to ask for a change here and there, the developers have been very responsive and either enacted that change, or explained to me (in non-technical terms) why that change could not be put in place. I am delighted with the platform and the service I receive.
Richard Norman
Hey PH, Richard from Yatter. I'm really proud to bring Yatter to the Product Hunt community. We have been building a friendly group of Beta users here in Scotland and this is the first time we have really welcomed the wider tech community onto the platform. It’s still early days for us and we hope to be able to provide more features as we grow. We expect to extend to other platforms and also improve our integrations with Facebook and LinkedIn. We are fully functional on Twitter. If you have any feedback the makers would love to hear it. Thanks for all the support and we hope you enjoy the collaborative scheduling experience.
Colin Adam
@richard_norman This has been some experience. Thrilled that we're finally on PH!
Chris Carson
@richard_norman @futurecolin yeah it's about time! :)
Samantha Marshall
@richard_norman Ooooohhh!!! Am I a BETA user - How very exciting!!! I knew very little about tech till I met you.
Shreyaa Ratra
@richard_norman Product seems promising.Tried it today Few thoughts if you do B2B : Target companies that are actively hiring for social media managers since these are the ones who will be spending money on this function and are more likely to buy a software to aid their process. Similarly you could also focus on startups that have recently raised funds (they would be willing to spend money on it to increase their digital presence )
Seth Goldstein
I've been using it for the past few months and can't live without it. It's a must have for social media marketing.
Richard Norman
@sethgoldstein thanks for being one of the early users Seth. Having someone in a different timezone to test the global timings has been essential. Thanks for your feedback.
Alan Fair
What features are you looking forward to implementing in the next 6-12 months? How do you cope with Social Channels changing all the time?
Richard Norman
@alan_fair We really want to be able to post to Instagram. Facebook have only opened up this feature recently to select partners and, as a LEAN startup based in Scotland, that has obviously been a difficulty for us. Paid boosting would also be hugely beneficial to our users. Many of the rules around the social channels seem to change in relation to the political climate. It has certainly been a wild ride.
Tom Cowling
Hey guys, congrats on the launch! What sets you apart from the dozens of other social media schedulers? Do you feel there is any room left for disruption in this space?
Richard Norman
@tomfinds1988 it really is a crowded market. Much more crowded than when we first set out on this journey 2 years ago. The unique feature for our platform is the multi user aspect. You are scheduling with other people. Being able to easily access their approved imaging and links makes it easier to be supportive. We certainly hope there is some space in this market. We have not had any investment so far and work on a LEAN approach so we hope we can be competitive. How disruptive do we have to be?
Tom Cowling

I thought I'd read the reviews before signing up. I noticed some patterns in their Facebook reviews… No reviews for months at a time and then 4 reviews on the same day… all within 35 minutes. So I did a little research.

Facebook Reviews

Peter Carmichael - 13/09/2017 05:10 - Fake account?

Robert Hamilton - 12/10/2017 01:01 - Could be real.

Grantus Maximus - 22/12/2017 07:50 - Fake account?

** Here is where it gets interesting **

Matthew Ross - 01/02/2018 05:38 - Fake account?

Gordon Alexander MacPherson - 01/02/2018 05:53 - Fake account?

Jimmy Monteith - 01/02/2018 06:02 - Fake account?

Robert Munro - 01/02/2018 06:13 - Fake account?

** End of fake looking reviews **

Greg Friel - 09/05/2018 15:41 - Real.

Google Reviews

Liam McCann - 4 months ago - Real.

Peter Carmichael - 7 months ago - Fake account? Same persona as FB.

Gordon MacPherson - 4 months ago - Fake account? 10 Reviews total, 8 of which look to be on the same day.

Simon Robb - 10 months ago - Real.

Product Hunt

Upcoming page had around 30,000 subscribers - yet the neighbouring pages all had between 50 and 200 subscribers, why is their number so high?

The fake reviews make me question what other grey practices they’re using, I'd consider sticking with a reputable name such as Buffer, Hootsuite, Social Pilot or any of the other established products that do the same thing in a saturated social media market.

I’m keeping my API keys away from these guys.

How long before they start using customers social media accounts for their own gains?

Pros:

If the user reviews on here are real, they look promising.

Cons:

Grey area business practices are off putting.

Ashley Ashbee
There are loads of factors that can contribute to an influx of reviews, including marketing and networking. That alone shouldn't make you suspicious. You can't engage with content before it's live on Buffer or Hootsuite. It's not the same type of product at all.
Samantha Marshall

I have been using Yatter since July 2017 - I was one of the early adopters. I have found the training given by Richard and Colin to be excellent and the platform itself meets my needs. I have forged relationships with others that I would otherwise not have met and we comment and retweet each other's work. I also run a twitter hour. The backbone of this hour is shoutouts to certain accounts, thanks and highlighting accounts. Yatter allows me to schedule this in advance so that during the hour I can concentrate on retweeting the messages from the users, I can facilitate conversation and I can be seen. I used to be a Hootsuite fan, but since I have found Yatter, I have dumped HS. Try it out for yourself!

Pros:

Collaborative scheduling. Know what others are saying socially before it is published. Never miss content

Cons:

Unable to batch load, but the reason for this is explained as keeping the social in Social Media

Alan Fair

I like the company and the attitude towards their customers and what they want to do with the platform. I've been lucky enough to get to know the company and the staff a little and I'm always impressed with how hard they work to improve the system.

I'm excited to see this platform grow, so give it a chance and try it out at least. Also reach out to the Yatter team on social as they love feedback, that's what makes the platform improve over time.

Pros:

Quick to add scheduled posts, scheduling future interaction, seeing partners posts ahead of time, good overview of scheduled posts

Cons:

UI needs to be tweaked, just a little though, it's really nothing that will get in the way of you using it day in day out.

Alan Walker

I'm an early adopter, a vociferous social media user and someone who needs to keep organised. I also have a lot of friends/partners I like to support.

Yatter helps me do all of these things, and more.

Pros:

Excellent tool. Scheduling posts, scheduling activity, curating content and supporting partners - it's got all you need.

Cons:

The UI is OK, but sometimes I find myself getting lost. That said, I'm an early adopter - and I have upmost confidence in the Yatter team!

Richard Norman
Thanks for taking the time to come and try the product Alan. It's early days for us and any feedback is highly valued.
Carol Thomas

love Yatter's customer service, commitment to excellence, can do attitude and willingness to listen. Brilliant company, excellent product and so much talent

Pros:

allows partners to interact with each others pets BEFORE they appear on social media. I can work iwhenever and schedule 21 days ahead!

Cons:

Takes a little bit of getting used to but is easy once you know how.

Ashley Ashbee

I've been looking for a tool like this for a while. I feel so ahead of the game and extra strategic because I can time things like Retweeting something without having to drop everything to do it when the time is right.

Pros:

Great way to schedule my content marketing and reduce disruptions for time sensitive engagements.

Cons:

Navigating through the site is a bit difficult.

bathgatebairn84
I was one of the earlier adopters of Yatter Social. I liked how it felt and the fresh approach to social scheduling it offered. I am encouraging my clients to check it out and get on board.
bathgatebairn84

Having a tool the make social scheduling easier is a gift to people that work in my space.

No not MySpace but if Viant Technology wanted to do something worth while with the "Great Grandfather" of Social Media they would be wise to take some tips from Richard and his team at Yatter Social.

I mean it's a gift for people that work in social media management or consulting. We spend our days showing people and companies how to use social media and how to be smart with it. Using Yatter is the smartest thing I have ever done as I can now handle more work and further demonstrate the good in social media.

I have used this product for months now and I'm not turning back.

Pros:

Simple to use on several platforms. It can't be overworked and it's fresh.

Cons:

Re-authorising profiles and pages could be extended to say every 90 days, but I am splitting hairs here.

James Shoemark

The guys are really motivated to build something to help us and are really talented so I am sure this will do really well.

Pros:

The main premise of collabourating with others to increase impact and virality is a no brainer. Nobody else has bult a platform to do this

Cons:

I need to get my social media team using it

Kirsty Brennan

Simple but effective idea!

Pros:

Easy to use and great support available

Cons:

Had an issue with cover images but was quickly resolved

Glasgow Shop
Fantastic product great team with great ethics. support Yatter and the team check out this great product for your business.
David Sherlock

Yatter has been a very useful tool for my organisation. It has allowed us to grow our online presence as well as expand our community and contacts. Having previously used similar products I would gladly recommend Yatter as we have experienced better results from a platform that is much easier to use.

Pros:

Superb tool. Excellent support from a highly skilled team. Great for forward planning and collaboration.

Cons:

Couple of early bugs but all quickly rectified by the Yatter team.

Gareth Daine
