WunderMail is a beautiful mail app especially created for the use of Gmail.

By using the latest Fluent Design principles, WunderMail perfectly combines the user experience of Gmail with the lock and feel of Windows 10. Unlike other mail apps WunderMail offers support for Gmail specific functions like labels and inbox categories.

I hate this trend of never mentioning price/tiers anywhere. It started with apps for Apple devices, now it is leaking into Microsoft Store. This shady garbage is dark pattern of sales, cementing my distrust in your company without even trying your product. //EDIT: @timchiller and the team reworked the website to be more transparent. And I think the pricing is fair.
Tim Grabinat
@lebaux Thanks for your feedback. We decide to give free users a fully featured version of the app. Therefore the free version is supported by ads. You are right that this could be better communicated by us. The premium subscription for 9.99$ a year has been created as some beta user wished to have a fully ad free experience.
Pierre LeBaux
@timchiller Hi Tim, thanks for the clarification. I understand that most people don’t share my outrage and hiding premium offerings is (sadly) valid and working sales strategy. I fully understand devs got to eat and for app to be sustainable it should have some sort of monetization plan — but I really like to see the deal upfront. “Free with ads, 10 bucks a month premium, got it, I can afford it, so let me try it now.” WunderMail itself looks great and it comes in a right time, as lots of people don’t exactly love the new native gmail interface. That being said, email is such essential part of stack, that I have to wait for considerable time just to see if the particular app is still being in the works. Last time I got excited about email client it was Nylas, then it was discontinued, and picked up again as Mailspring, and that looks more dead than alive today too. There is also Sparrow and heaps others, so hopefully you have longer future ahead of you! Have a nice weekend, Tim!

@timchiller @lebaux Absolutely agree with Pierre. I was looking for the monetisation strategy on the website too. But couldn't find anything. Thanks for the clarification though Tim!
Tim Grabinat
@lebaux @preetesh_jain I totally agree that it should be possible to find out about or pricing options in front. I acknowledge that we could have done that better. Therefore I already created an additional pricing page and placed it prominent in the website header. We will update the store description as well with the next update. https://wundermail.app/pricing/

Hey Producthunt! This is Tim, founder at WunderMail. 👋 We started WunderMail a year ago to create the most native and beautiful way to access your Gmail account on Windows 10. Therefore, we applied the design principles of Microsoft latest Fluent Design system as much as possible. Unlike other mail clients WunderMail is completely built on top of the Gmail API. This allows WunderMail to support unique functions of Gmail like labels and inbox categories. Over the last couple of months, we’ve worked closely with our amazing group of beta testers to continuously refine and enhance the UX to the user needs to ensure that WunderMail is a joy to use. With today’s launch we are extremely exited to share with you the result. I hope to hear your thoughts and feedback!
Tim Grabinat
@icartic We try to implement all Gmail features which are available via the Gmail API. Gmail Add-ons and Chrome extensions can not be accessed this way. Therefore we can unfortunately not support them at the moment.

@timchiller Hey, I really liked your app. I have been looking for an awesome mail client for Windows 10 for long time. You saved my life :). Good luck!

@timchiller I was wondering what data from the emails do you store, how do you use it, what for and how do you keep it safe. Not bring to paranoid, just that email store the most sensitive and private data... UI looks amazing, I would love to have a native client for gmail. my only concern is for the data.
Tim Grabinat
@ron_cohen Hello Ron, thanks for the great question. WunderMail works completely local. This means the access token will not be send to our server. Therefore we do not have access to your mails. Instead the app is downloading a copy of your mails directly from the Google server in a local database in the App folder. As soon you delete the app, the local database gets also deleted. The only data which is shared to us is anonymous usage data. Also when you add an account in WunderMail if you want opt in for the newsletter. In case you opt in your mailaddress and some metadata like your signup date is send to us. However, receiving the newsletter is optional.
Ron Cohen
@timchiller Thank you for the clarification, great to hear that you are mined for the privacy & security of you users.

@timchiller 🔥 Wundermail is an incredible product, beautifully designed and executed! ⛔ About privacy, Your answer is great and hopeful, but the policies of the site do not reflect it at all 💥
Tim Grabinat
@julianpardo Hello Julian, thanks for your feedback. As mentioned above the app itself is sharing nearly no data with us. However, you are correct that the privacy policy does not reflect this to 100%. This has two reasons: 1. To make sure the privacy policy is not using invalid formulations (especially in terms of the new GDPR) we decided to use an online tool for generating the privacy policy. This tools do not generate perfect results as they only have limited options for individualization. 2. The privacy policy is valid for our apps and our websites. Therefore the privacy policy states terms which are not used by the app itself. To provide you with an example lets take the collecting of "credentials" or "Social media logins". This is part of the privacy policy because we also run an support forum for the apps on a web page. To post into the forum you have to create an forum account. This can be done by social media login or by selecting your own password for the forum account. So we save you credentials of your forum account, in case you create an forum account on our web page. However, the app itself does not save or transfer any of this information. I hope this clarifies it a bit more.

Though I don't use Windows OS anymore (because it's not as good 📈 as Linux distros) but this app looks 👁 amazing 💯👍🏽👌🏽. Great job @timchiller .
Ayush
@timchiller @aalpanigrahi What distro are you running?
Aashish Loknath Panigrahi
@timchiller @ayushpokh Ubuntu v18.04 .Though I was thinking to shift to elementary's beta version of the upcoming OS but then I thought of using a stable OS.
Ayush
@timchiller @aalpanigrahi Have you run the Budgie flavor of ubuntu? It's the one I liked the most.
Aashish Loknath Panigrahi
@timchiller @ayushpokh Yeah 🙌. I have 🈶 tested 2️⃣0️⃣+ different linux distros . Budgie is great but I also like Xubuntu (Ubuntu with XFCE) : lightweight , fast , sleek.

just downloaded! looks awesome - can't wait to use it on my new surface - love that Windows is getting the attention they need from developers and new software creators

I love Wundermail ! I've always been a Windows user and I always have a hard time finding great apps. This one has a beautiful design and works flawlessly. Gmail is my primary email so this app is very useful to me. It's beautiful, simple to use and comes with a great offline feature. Aaand it's free. So far, nothing to complain about.
Ayush
Not a fan of the subscription model but the app looks very solid. I think it needs better support for keyboard shortcuts and some customizability for that. But otherwise great job on the app guys!
Tim Grabinat
@ayushpokh Thanks for your feedback. Keyboard shortcuts are already on our backlog. Regarding the subscriptions: We are aware that some user would prefer to have an one time fee instead of an subscription. So we are definitely considering to add an one-time IAP purchase as an alternative.

My gmail account contains or links a large part of my most important data. After reading your privacy policy I do not feel very comfortable with the service.

Pros:

🔥 Wundermail is an incredible product, beautifully designed and executed

Cons:

⛔ Privacy policy 💥

Thanks for your review. Please let me clarify this: In short: We do not have access to any of you mails. In long: WunderMail works completely local. This means the access token will not be send to our server. Therefore we do not have access to your mails. Instead the app is downloading a copy of your mails directly from the Google server in a local database in the App folder. As soon you delete the app, the local database gets also deleted. @timchiller create a separate and updated version of the app privacy policy? otherwise this would hurt your app's reputation.
Sam Ashley
This looks amazing but it is really only for Gmail? Windows 10 is lacking a really nice mail app, but if you can’t add accounts that aren’t Gmail then it’s a really missed opportunity.
Tim Grabinat
@twascold With WunderMail we focused on the usage of Gmail and G-Suite account. We did this because we also wanted to create the best possible client for Gmail and we wanted to support Gmail specific features. Therefore WunderMail is completely based on the Gmail API. However, we may extend to other mail providers in the future.
Esteban Morales
I've use this on my Windows Virtual Machine and loved it! If I buy a Windows Machine again (thinking of getting a Surface Go) I will have this client in mind 😉
Manuel Arno Korfmann
"supported by ads" my ass. Are you fucking serious? https://gyazo.com/538c028e965c19... oh boi producthunt folks ur loosing trust
Tim Grabinat
@lemonandroid I am also not very happy about this particular ad. The ads are getting selected by the ad network. Unfortunately there is only one SDK for UWP apps available. However I will check if I can adjust the ad meditations settings.
Hamza Foziljonov
Hello @timchiller, if I add a G Suite email to WunderMail, it is showing only the following categories: Promotions, Forums. However, the following categories are not being shown: Primary, Social and Updates. I have chosen all categories when setting up the email. I tried a few times by removing and re-adding the email. Please have a look.
Jorge Bracer

Seems well implemented, but above two issues are killer. I deinstalled mine after 1 hours of use.

Pros:

Pretty

Cons:

Memory Hog (600 Mb & rising), email subject lines too short vs web interface where can arrange horizontally.

Tim Grabinat
Thanks for your valuable feedback. WunderMail was created with resource optimization in mind. Therefore it uses literally no processor power as soon it is minimized or not in focus for a few seconds. We designed it to be light, so that RAM usage should always stay below 250 MB. Could you please specify in which user scenario you experienced the high RAM usage? This would help us, to reproduce the problem. Did this happen during your first run?
Zhao
@timchiller Hello Tim, when I login in my Gmail account, someting went wrong, says "someting went wrong with your google account to get started", can you help me with it?
Derek Rubright
I just installed this system onto my laptop, and I have run into a problem. It seems that when the ads are loading, the program hangs. That is, you cannot scroll or select an email to view until the ads have completely loaded. This can take from 5-10 seconds. Is this normal ?
Justin Burkard
Huge fan of WunderMail. Was desperately wanting a smooth running Fluent Design Gmail app that supported Gmail folders/labels. Hope you continue to maintain, I bought the lifetime pass! 😁
Ian Cheah
While overall the design looks really good but I've been having syncing issues and mails come very slowly. I even have problems with mails not coming in or going missing from time to time. I find this a bit frustrating but until the UX gets better, I think it's rather better just sticking to opening a tab in Chrome.
matt anglise
The product despite the reviews of adds and privacy concerns is very slow and far less convenient than the chrome webmail client, I am a bit disappointed as I thought this would be a good option

Such a gorgeous app, deserves Apple App of the year!!!!
Greg Wilkinson
Looks like there is an issue with the site certificate. My works web filter is blocking me. 😞
