Hey folks! Here’s the deal. We are fans of lightweight project management (think Kanban) but couldn't quite find a tool that made us happy. That’s why we built Whimsical Sticky Notes. 1. It's a visual project management tool that doesn't compromise on basics. For example you can attach rich text descriptions, images, and checklists to cards. 2. It's simple, fast, and kind of fun. 3. It's great even for bigger projects where other tools like Trello become cumbersome. We have been running our own product development on Sticky Notes for a couple months now and it has been a blast. @k7d Looks great. The concept of stacks and an infinite canvas are awesome. I feel like you've undervalued the power of the product by calling it "Sticky Notes." I understand you may want to communicate that it's lightweight. People may not even take a look at it though because of all the connotation wrapped up in what a "sticky note" is. I hope that's helpful feedback!

@k7d @kenyarmosh I respectfully disagree. The connotation of a sticky note in my mind is very much about being that thing that I reach for when I need to write, doodle, document something that I know I'm going to forget, but know I want to know... I buy all these expensive artsy notebooks and journals that end up being my kids drawing paper whilst all of the on-the-fly thoughts end up on my rather healthy supply of sticky notes on the wall next to my desk until I can input them into my brain (computer, phone - pick one). 😜

@k7d @rj_lewis Exactly. They are something you write things down on, not a tool you can manage projects with comparatively. Beyond that, they are very much like Trello but with some seriously powerful upgrades. They could become a Trello alternative over time and they need to ensure they position themselves in the market that way.

Very nice. We're currently using a number of products that do similar things (lucidchart/trello/realtimeboard) but the option to have all these tools rolled into one, with the cost saving that comes with this, is really interesting.

I have used Whimsical from the time it came out and have loved it ever since. The easiest way for me to get thoughts out of my head and on to the screen and then iterate on those ideas. Their sticky notes product complements their other two offerings, both of which are equally delightful. I am waiting to see what they do with mindmaps.

Added bonus: as a visual thinker who writes a lot, I was using Whimsical's flowcharts to sketch my ideas, export the jpeg and flesh them out in Notion (another favorite). Sticky notes gives me an intermediate step since it has expandable cards so I find myself using it instead of flowcharts for certain purposes.

As useful for writers as it is for designers and developers.

Add the ability to organize folders and nest boards within each other and you would have solved most of my remaining problems.

I've been using Whimsical for a spell now with my team, primarily for flow diagrams and some wireframing, but have been extra excited to see how their amazingly simple design would play out in Sticky Notes. Looks like they hit the mark upon first glance! Keep it up team, Denver for the win!

Would love the availability for folks to copy text directly from wireframes when I send them a share link (I use this for content wireframes), but other than that Whimsical is my go-to tool for wireframes now!

Easy to use & adding new features at an awesome pace

@shivam_dewan thanks & glad you asked! In fact we were using Trello ourselves but we struggled with two things: 1. Trello boards don't scale well (dozen lists is probably max). After that you end up splitting things into multiple boards but managing work that way gets very cumbersome. Typically at that point organizations make a switch to "serious" PM tools. Whimsical on the other hand maintains the flexible and simple nature of Trello while letting you grow further thanks to infinite two dimensional canvas. 2. Markdown is cool but modern rich text editors are way superior. The biggest pain point was inability to inline images in description and comments. Whimsical handles this very nicely.

My first thought was seeing the use case for all my author/writer friends! This was needed at the beginning of November for the Plannerz of NaNoWriMo! (As opposed to the Pantzers, but they could use it to keep track of where they've been without re-reading every day!)

I've been using Whimsical for a few months now, and it's such an extensible tool that provides ridiculously good value for product teams. We use it for sharing mental models, design/brand documentation, user flows, mockups and more. From tinkering with these sticky notes, it looks like we'll probably use this to organise our roadmap as well. No more faffing about between trello/notion/google docs etc. Congrats folks, looks great

I enjoy using whimsical for charts and wireframes. I've used it successfully on a couple UX projects for sitemaps and simple wires. I currently actively use and pay for a competing product for organzing my other projects because of it's extensive features and capabilities. For whimsical, the addition of these stickies is perfect because it enables me to do task analysis and project management in a better interface. I'm considering switching entirely to whimsical now. I haven't tried it in every scenario but it looks so nice and peaceful.

Pros:

Free-form organziation of project processes

Live collaboration

Cons:

Focused feature sets aren't for everyone:

No PDF export,

No free-form drawing,

No Templates,

No integrations with dropbox, drive, or adobe

I logged into PH after maybe 2 years out just to upvote this thing. The article about why you shouldn't wireframe in sketch is spot on true and the product is delivering 100% of what it promises. Nice!

I agree with all the other positive feedback - very simple and easy to use! I needed to get a userflow done and finished within 30 minutes compared to another tool that would have taken me much longer. I was able to focus on the information I needed to enter and drag and drop things into place - whether then trying to figure out how the mechanics to connect flows. Love it!

As PM I was searching for a tool to make collaborative wireframes, flowcharts and whimsical is the best product I could found

While the UI is way nicer than other diagramming/kanban tools, I've been making diagrams with it and it just can't match up feature wise to other, cheaper offerings like LucidChart. If you need a quick flowchart it's great, and I'm using it for that, but it's too pricey for me to replace something else!

Nice, congratulations! I'm already a fan of Whimsical Wireframes so it's easy for me to really WANT to try this. 😄 So far Sticky Notes looks and feels great! Excited to put it into practice on my next project.

@romspax you can simply paste a link to another card inside description. We are planning to make this a bit more integrated - with a a lookup and using card title for link text rather just URL.
