Website Hunt showcases little known yet useful websites, and sends a weekly newsletter featuring the most upvoted sites. Users can also see what's new, trending, or popular on the platform.
Welcome to WebsiteHunt's second launch!
There are plenty of new features; the main one is pre-filling your submission with AI from a URL.
We use a mix of web scraping and prompting GPT-3.5. So now, instead of having to fill out a huge form and scratch your head selecting categories and tags from big lists, you just have to correct it if it looks wrong. Your logo and main image are taken from your own website, which you can change if you have better ones, and the description and tagline are written by GPT-3.5 after reading your homepage text. The tagline is generally pretty good, but the description has this boring GPT style despite prompt engineering, so it is generally better to write your own or edit it, but that's up to you.
There is also a bunch of new features that make the website more useful.
Feel free to add your product/website to WebsiteHunt! The waiting line is currently about 150 websites, but I will process them with priority.
Feedback is greatly appreciated!
And also, if you are not subscribed to the WebsiteHunt newsletter, what are you waiting for? It's the best newsletter around...
@hoanganhlam I actually built it almost two years ago and it has been organically growing (mainly through SEO) ever since.
I am also regularly adding features like the new AI autocompletion. Before that, people that wanted to add a website faced a huge empty form, now it is mostly sorted out from just a URL and editing is easier that starting from scratch.
Also the sponsoring features are new. Now you can pay a small amount to skip the waiting line, and to be sponsored in the newsletter or the homepage.
My long term plan is to keep maintaining it and adding new features, and finding more relevant websites while keeping cost low so it can go forever !
@narendra_solanki Thank you ! There is a waiting list of currently 150 websites and around three websites are selected each day, it varies because an algorithm decides which ones exactly to add variety!
@kacem Thanks ! Good observation, I am indeed using HTMx. The experience is pretty great ! I was using mostly ReactJS before and switching to HTMx instead is a huge productivity boost. And it also simplifies (and halves) the codebase which is another productivity boost!
@kacem There seem to be a package named django-browser-reload. I never used it though as I don't mind reloading the page manually. I noticed that Django and other old school frameworks don't have all the nice conveniences of React or other modern Libraries/Frameworks. But the tradeoff is positive for me because I ship faster.
Congrats on the launch of Website Hunt, great work team!
On another note, I’m thrilled to share about our new venture, anchors.in https://go.anchors.in/eOml, a platform for everyone who hosts events & tired of juggling multiple tools. It enables 50% more conversions with 70% less effort. Your feedback on our recent launch on Product Hunt would be invaluable in honing our offering. Let’s inspire each other!
