Wave is an iOS app that transcribes and summarizes recorded audio and phone calls, in any language. Wave is the essential tool for capturing and understanding critical information, anytime, anywhere.
Hello Product Hunters! đź‘‹
I’m Josh Mohrer from New York City, excited to unveil Wave - an AI-powered mobile app l developed for transcribing and summarizing audio and phone calls in any language.
My journey to Wave is unique: After pivotal roles in Ops and Marketing at several startups, including a significant stint at Uber leading the New York business, I pursued a deeper calling - software engineering. The challenge? I was a solo learner with big aspirations. The breakthrough came with the rise of large language models like GPT-4. Not just a learning tool, but my virtual pair programmer and sidekick, GPT-4 was instrumental in bringing Wave to life. This journey from a business leader to a tech creator has been exhilarating, and Wave is a testament to that - built entirely by me. Leveraging open-source software and AI advancements, Wave addresses a need to efficiently process and understand audio content. It's designed for anyone who needs to capture and analyze critical audio information, whether it's phone calls, podcasts, or voice notes.
Since its debut in the App Store, Wave has processed over a quarter-million minutes of audio, finding its place in various scenarios and garnering positive user feedback. This Product Hunt launch is more than just a release; it's a celebration of a journey from idea to execution, made possible by the incredible advancements in AI and the supportive open-source community.
I'm thrilled to share Wave with the Product Hunt community and eager to hear your thoughts, feedback, and creative ways you might use it. Let's explore together how Wave can make managing audio information more accessible and insightful for everyone.
Thank you for your interest in Wave, and I look forward to a dynamic conversation!

"Mohrer Associates LLC" sounds like a legal firm! Haha.
But seriously: Congrats, @joshmohrer. What's been the biggest learning or surprise building this so far?
@rrhoover I know its weird - its actually the name of an entity my late Grandfather had for his own business. I found it written on a stack of stationary after his passing about 5 years ago. Figured it was time to spin that baby back up. But in truth was not my intention to have it show up in App Store :)
Been using wave since the start of the year and it’s hands down the best transcription out there (believe me, I have tried dozens of them)
The accuracy of the transcripts are usually about 90-95% perfect and it’s the accuracy that sets this app apart for me and is vital in my role as a journalist.
Been using Wave since its launch. Can't even begin to describe how helpful it is. Being able to focus solely on the discussion at hand knowing that I have Wave to summarize the call is such an advantage. Can't recommend it enough.
@rick_fan Yep! . The Wave phone bridge will call you and connect an outgoing call with your own caller ID. Powered by Twilio. For Incoming calls you can trigger a bridge call that you can merge in to record a call in progress. Let me know if that's clear :)
