Interesting idea. Curious to know your thoughts on monetization - will you integrate with trip booking platforms?
Anna Filou
I used Wanderlog last year when it was cold something else and it really helped me get a feel of my destination and its hotspots. I actually used it to decide where I was going to stay, while taking into account proximity to interesting places :) It reminds me of Google's My Maps but a lot better.
Harry Yu
@anna_0x Thanks for trying it so early on! That was probably when it was still called Travelchime - we renamed back in October of last year. My Maps was definitely an inspiration, even though it's mostly been abandoned by Google. We liked how you could have different colors and types of map markers for different lists, and made sure to include that here.

Hi PH! I’m here along with @giam_ju_xian, @harry_yu1, @namphuongvan, and Oliver: the creators of Wanderlog. Since we launched almost exactly a year ago on Product Hunt and graduated from Y Combinator, we’ve come a long way, thanks largely to the PH community’s suggestions! To recap, we built Wanderlog to replace the tangle of tools (Google Docs, Google Maps, Tripadvisor, etc.) that you’d typically use to plan a trip. Whenever we booked flights for a trip, we’d open a new Google Doc to write down our thoughts; search on Tripadvisor and Google for attractions; and star things on Maps. Wanderlog brings it all together: 🗺 It’s a map: add places you want to visit along with any other notes, and it’ll show up. 📄 It’s a document with real-time collaboration: invite your friends and get everyone on the same page. ✈️ It’s a flight/hotel tracker like TripIt or Google Trips: send your confirmations, and we’ll attach them to your trip plans 📚 It’s a guidebook: We’ve collected blogs and lists from around the web and made them easy to browse. I know there’s been a couple of travel apps launched on PH recently, but we think Wanderlog’s the best -- it’s designed to be useful no matter how much you plan, and where you do it. Since our last launch, we’ve: 📱Built Android and iOS apps to see your plans and plan on the go ✨Refreshed our interface so it’s more intuitive It’s still got rough edges for sure though. Tell us -- how do you like it? What else are we missing that’ll prevent you from switching away from your spreadsheet or Google Maps? Email me at peter@wanderlog.com or just leave a comment here; we’ve really appreciated the PH community’s feedback so far and would love to hear more!

This looks like you guys made some big changes since v1, super awesome 👍🏼 what were the inspirations behind the changes?
Harry Yu
@victor_zhang1 We went on a few trips and realized that (1) fast, offline access in a native app is essential and (2) if you have more than a few people you travel with, both Android and iOS support is essential. We also realized everyone starts with booking a flight, so making getting started from that point super-easy was a big priority for us!

Such a beautiful product. Well done. Only question is how do I see this in a timeline type view instead of grouped by Lodging, Flights, etc?
Nate Ritter
Oh, and what about train transportation? Planning a Europe trip and most of it is via rail and/or bus.

Really cool way to keep track of the bucket list! Two things mentioned here too in context on your landing page in relation to responsiveness and social proof, hope it helps -- https://app.usebubbles.com/a6564...

Used this for a trip in Thailand and I loved being able to share it to friends who had been before to give suggestions. Even better was being able to share it afterwards with friends who wanted the itinerary!
Harry Yu
We're really aiming to be the best solution for people like my fiancee who plan with Google Sheets or Google Docs. It's just as flexible, but with bonus stuff on top! Try it out
Michele Patrassi
sounds cool, I'll give it a try for my next trip! Something weird: on iOS when starting a trip I wanted to pick a date and the calendar visually put the green background on the day before (btw, the value of the date selected was right after saving)
Harry Yu
@michele_patrassi Weird - I'll take a look. Thanks for reporting this!
Veronika Cervenakova
This is super cool, i was waiting for app like this to come to market. Will definitely give it a go on my next trip.

One thing I would love is if I have the option to add a separate notes section in between the checkpoints/places of interest instead of just the start of the day. Minor edit - but I think it would make a difference personally to me as a user!
Harry Yu
@leonard28 YES! I've been pushing for this feature for a while now within the team - it'd help with writing down specific transportation instructions for example. We'll look into adding this.
Harry Yu
@leonard28 I saw someone upvote my post on this. Just a note - we'd added this feature a few months ago! If you try it on the web app, you can now add notes anywhere
alexjthurman
On first impressions it seems awesome! I was seeing whether I could use it for my trip to Southern Germany but unfortunately it struggles a bit when you leave the main city destinations. It's still handy for more remote trips but more manual, however I'm still very exciting though and I want to use it on a trip soon!
Harry Yu
@alexjthurman Thanks! We're working to expand our range of data for the guides to outside large cities, and have a fully automated crawling pipeline set up. We're planning to launch a way to import places from any article soon, and we'll let you know when that happens!

I need a new function, To choose transportation method(such as metro/bus/ferry/ride/walk/drive) between POI and next POI.
Peter Xu
@h0wardch3ng There should be a way to do so! Right now, we support transit, walk, and drive wherever Google Maps supports it: see https://imgur.com/0LrY6P8

I use wanderlog for all my trip planning and even to look for recommendations from others when I travel.. it's the best and has made it so easy for me to get all my crazy trip plans in order and in one place and collaborate with the people I'm traveling with, 12/10 would recommend go wanderlog!
Oliver Manheim
Woo! I've been planning all my trips on Wanderlog for a while and it's totally changed my travel experience. Makes it so much easier to plan with friends, consolidate my reservations, and keep track of recs and places to visit on the go. If you're not currently planning a trip but looking for some inspiration, here's a guide I wrote to visiting San Francisco! https://wanderlog.com/view/cyysd...
Ilya Zoria
Awesome idea. Are you hiring remote designers?
Harry Yu
@ilzorya Thanks for the interest! Unfortunately, we hired our first full-time designer recently, so we're set for now. Is there anything you'd like to see as a user or you'd dreamt of building before? Happy to hear it - we're pretty fast at building new things!
Don Partlan
Very impressed the way it automatically filled in my flight info.
Conor Clarke
Really helpful way to keep track of travel lists :)
Ilya Zoria
Just found out your product. If something I found to improve I’ll let you know.
Rishabh
Awesome work, y'all! Excited to use this for my next trip.
