@rrhoover thanks Ryan! I'm currently sitting at ~1.8k Chrome Tab users and ~8k weekly users on the mac app. It's steadily growing and people really seem to like the product.
Hi folks!
My name is Dustin and I'm the designer / engineer behind Wallcat. Wallcat is a simple macOS, (very soon iOS), and new Chrome Tab app delivering you with a beautiful hand-picked desktop wallpaper, every day.
Up to this point there's been three different channels that I've curated. With the launch of Wallcat Partners I'm opening up the system for anyone to apply to become a partner and create their own channels 👍 Perhaps you're a photographer, artist, magazine, or company who has gorgeous imagery. Now, you too can schedule images to appear on everyone's desktop.
As a solo designer / engineer I've put a ton of work into Wallcat. Maintaining servers, a mac app, chrome tab app, website, and now the partners system has taken many late-nights. I appreciate y'all taking the time to check it out and sharing the word!
Thank you to everyone currently using Wallcat, your tweets and emails keep me wanting to build it ❤️
Happy to answer any questions on here,
Dustin
@Countable is thrilled to be one of Wallcat's first partners! 😸🇺🇸
Now you can subscribe to the Countable channel and you'll get a super patriotic wallpaper/new tab image, PLUS if you click through to learn more you'll be presented with a featured bill currently in front of Congress. From there you can contact your elected officials directly and tell them how to vote!
Wallcat broke somewhere around 6 months back and hasn't worked since. I sent the following email to wallcat@dustinsenos.com on August 10th, 2016 but never heard back:
"Hey there,
I've been a happy user of Wallcat for a while, but recently I became
suspicious that Wallcat was not updating the wallpaper on my desktop
every day. In fact, I'm pretty sure the application has not updated my
wallpaper in over a month. It's been stuck on #33846 by Will Burn for
1-2 months.
I've switched channels to see if that fixes the issue, and while that
does change the background to the channel I select, changing back to
Gradients simply loads Will Burn's image again.
Do you have any idea how I can work around this issue so that Wallcat
continues to provide me with new gradients as wallpaper?
-Charles"
Does the newest version of this app fix the bug that I reported back in August?
@magnuson Update: Just reinstalled the application and while Will Burn is still the artist displayed, I'm now seeing gradient #41587 instead of #33846. The remaining unanswered question is will this gradient update tomorrow or will I be stuck on #31587?
@magnuson Charles! Gradients are no longer stuck on the gradient you mention, you'll be happy to hear there's a full line of gradients in the queue. Also, apologies on the lack of response. I've let a couple wallcat emails slip as I was heads-down focused on building and fixes the issues as you mention. I appreciate your understanding <3
