Trae vs. Cursor: Is my love for vibecoding making me miss out? 🤔
Hey PH fam 👋,
I'm a student from China, just getting deep into the world of 'vibecoding' and building my first few projects. I could really use some community wisdom here.
For the past few months, I've been using Trae as my main editor. I absolutely love its minimalist design and the overall 'vibe' – it's clean, focused, and just feels right. It helps me get into the flow state.
But… I can't ignore the elephant in the room: Cursor 🐘.
Everywhere I look online, especially in the AI dev community, people are raving about it. They say its native AI features are a total game-changer and that going back to a "non-AI" editor feels like coding with one hand tied behind your back.
Now I'm stuck in a classic dilemma. My heart loves the aesthetic and simplicity of Trae, but my brain is telling me I might be sacrificing a massive productivity boost. I'm worried my attachment to the 'vibe' is a form of procrastination, preventing me from adopting a potentially more powerful tool.
So, for those of you who have danced with both:
Is the AI integration in Cursor really that revolutionary? Are we talking a genuine 10x leap in efficiency, or is it a bit overhyped? I'd love to hear your honest opinions, especially from other indie devs or students.
Is it time to ditch the vibe for the horsepower?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🙏
