Uptime monitors your Shopify online store through automated QA test flows, and detects outages on the Shopify status page and third-party apps. If there's an issue you'll get alerts in real-time via email or Slack.
Every once in a while when you ask โthereโs an app for that, right?โ the answer is no. If you were looking for an app that told you when Shopify or the apps that make your website work were down, that answer was surprisingly noโฆ until now.
Awesome work getting this โupโ and running, Uptime team! Adding this to my list of must-have apps that new ecommerce stores should have when they launch ๐
Thanks for posting @robjama! Hey everyone, my name is Corey and Iโm one of the co-founders of Uptime ๐
We built Uptime to give Shopify merchants peace of mind knowing someone is always watching their online store, and that theyโll be notified the moment thereโs an issue.
Uptime is essentially a robotic QA team a merchant or agency can deploy to their stores to monitor the Shopify status page, the status pages of third-party apps (like Klaviyo, Recharge, etc.), and create automated tests that simulate real user clicks to test things like add to cart, upsells and proceeding to checkout.
@richgilbank , @taylorsicard , and I are all ex-Shopify employees, and throughout our combined 10+ years in eCommerce weโve seen how often online stores can break, with merchants finding out hours/days too late via Twitter, support emails, or looking at their plummeted conversion rate.
So far Uptime has saved merchants thousands of dollars in potential lost revenue by catching issues immediately, so merchants can take action and resolve things quickly. For example, hereโs a quote from one of our customers:
โWe had a problem Uptime caught on our collections page where customers couldn't add to cart. I immediately set up a redirect to a different landing page and saved thousands of dollars in lost revenue. I wouldn't have known about it without Uptime emailing me!โ
As we approach the Black Friday/Cyber Monday holiday season, any downtime or bugs can make or break a merchant's business, and cost a lot of money.
Black Friday and the holiday season are the busiest time of the year for Shopify merchants, where any downtime could mean losing thousands of dollars per hour in revenue. We want to help merchants avoid that this year, and gain back some peace of mind!
Tell y'all a quick story. We work with a pretty big brand on Shopify ($50M+ in rev) and their site one day randomly was just *white*. No images or elements displaying on the page. We had no idea why. We quickly realized there was a third party tool that was *hiding* all of the page elements and this was persistent for about 12 hours. So you can imagine how frustrated we were when we realized there really wasn't a way to test and be notified when this happened.
Thank goodness for Uptime. We were vetting the tool, told them what happened and they were able to create a flow to test for this exact scenario.
Super great app, really cool product and incredibly caring folks buildling something that is super useful for a lot of folks.
This is super cool, clearly a must have for brands. @cpollo01 how are you thinking about future development/roadmap? What else is uptime going to take on/build?
@ringmybeller our goal is to be the central hub Shopify merchants use to monitor the health of their online store! To do that we plan to expand upon our testing platform, including testing across multiple browsers, and testing on staging themes. We also plan to introduce performance monitoring (ie. page load speed, order velocity monitoring), as well as downtime actions (ie. pause FB ads when there's an issue)
I was lucky to be an early user of Uptime.
The product is rock solid,
The value to cost ratio is favourable.
It has become a weapon in our biz-ops toolkit.
Kudos, but more importantly, thank-you to @cpollo01@taylorsicard@richgilbank
