Hi PH! I’m Wyatt, founder of Update (https://update.dev)
We built Update to make auth and billing just work for modern web apps—so you can ship faster, without duct-taping 3–5 services together. If you’ve ever wired up Supabase, Stripe, and custom roles just to add a paywall to your app—you know the pain. We felt it too, and we wanted something better.
With Update, you get drop-in infrastructure for:
Auth: email/password, OAuth, multi-tenancy, permissions
Billing: Stripe-based subscriptions, usage-based pricing, free trials, paywalls
User Management: Organizations, teams, dashboards—prebuilt, customizable, and clean
Why we built this:
At Update, we believe developers should be able to go from idea → revenue without wading through auth and billing boilerplate. It should be easy to:

So we made the thing we always wanted: one simple SDK to handle the basics—auth, billing, and user access—so you can focus on your product.

@emmettm This is so spot-on it hurts. I remember spending a ridiculous amount of time gluing Supabase + Stripe + some hacked-together roles logic just to get a basic paywall working—and even then it felt fragile.
Update looks like the infra glue we’ve all been duct-taping ourselves. One SDK to rule the boring parts—auth, billing, permissions—so we can stop reinventing the wheel and actually build the product. Big fan of the stack flexibility (FastAPI folks rise up 🙌), and the fact that you’re not forcing a UI but giving the option is chef’s kiss.
I’d love to hear how you handle more advanced usage-based billing patterns (e.g. tiered, rollover credits) and what’s coming next in terms of dashboards or webhook/event integrations.
Update looks like a massive time-saver for builders—auth + billing is one of those things that everyone needs but no one wants to spend weeks duct-taping together. Love how you’ve tackled the multi-tenancy and usage-based pricing out of the box—those are usually the hardest parts to get right.
