Thanks @fmerian for hunting us! Hi Product Hunt 👋🏼, I am Dhruv Agarwal, co-founder of Middleware. Along with me is my co-founder @jayantbhawal and our team. Being both an engineer and an engineering manager in the last decade I observed that builders are stuck in slightly sized orgs (>40 engineers) and leaders have a meek sense of the blockers. So, I observed 2 types of leaders: micro-managers or gut feeling wingers. 
 The end result in both cases are unhappy and stuck developers. Hence, we built Middleware 🚀 Today, we’re open sourcing the core of our product. Our team has been working multiple all-nighters ✨ for the past 6 weeks to deliver something cool, easy-to-use and impactful! This version offers DORA metrics out of the box to help any engineering team get started on tracking their delivery pipeline health (both in speed and quality). Engineering productivity is a complex topic and a crucial decision is to pick a framework which is non-monitoring, non-gameable. DORA metrics fits well right in and being open source Middleware makes it easy to start within your infra/env securely.

Big thumbs up from me! There's nothing like open-source magic to give dev teams a leg up. 😎📈 Just wondering though, how granular do these metrics get? It's one thing to see where the hold-ups are, but another to figure out the why behind them. 🤔 Also, "measure and improve" is a strong promise. I’m curious about the 'improve' bit – how does Middleware guide a team to not just spot problems but fix them?

Thanks @aman_wen for your thoughtful question! DORA metrics have the philosophy of "helping teams get better at getting better"! So, these metrics go to a team level of granularity. The thesis is to make the processes seamless and hence achieve a productive workflow. DORA metrics is evangelised and backed by Google. They conduct a research every year - https://cloud.google.com/devops/... which publishes the impact and a healthy range of each of the 4 key metrics w.r.t. the organisational context :) We keep updating these labels as per the latest research to help the teams with where they should focus. So, the signals for productivity are provided by the Middleware OSS. When the teams do want some help with taking actions, then our cloud product helps with productivity intelligence to take the actions. I am intrigued by this. Most tools that measure DORA are expensive enterprise products, making DORA irrelevant to most startups and opens source teams. The fact that you have an open source SaaS version is amazing. I hope this makes DORA more accessible to more engineering teams. Plus open source will always win!
