@m_rlons Hey Marion. Awesome - we'd love your feedback on Trunk! Good question. Our take on version control is automating the version control process. As designers, we feel theres a lot going on already. That's why we automatically create the branches and have gone away from wording like 'merging' and 'pull requests'. Sure its important we have these concepts under the hood (which we do), but the feedback we've had so far from designers is that they enjoy our 'hands off approach' to helping the designers workflow.

Super slick product that has quickly become the dashboard for every design file my company works on. Haven't heard a single person ask where the latest file was since we started with Trunk.

Pros:

Trunk has brought order to the chaos of my team's designs. really intuitive design. Great collision detection.

Cons:

More notifications on 'commits'.

This looks like a great way for design teams to work on designs. How does it sit on top of shared drives like dropbox and google drive?

@djinoz Hey DJ! Good question. We are treating those intergrations as custom enterprise solutions for now. With Trunk we host the files remotely. Everything is backed up to the cloud daily and encrypted. Happy to chat more on this!

Thanks @duellsy for hunting us! 👏 Today we are launching the Trunk Beta and opening it up to designers everywhere. We’re a small team in Sydney Australia that has been working on improving design collaboration, through version control. After 10+ years of working in the design industry, Trunk represents our accumulated experience and take on version control / design collaboration . The last few months we’ve gone from prototype to now releasing the first version of our app for individuals and teams. Talking of which, we’ve had some amazing teams like Anomaly, AKQA, RGA & Massive feeding back on Trunk - helping to shape the product, but we need your feedback! 😀 Trunk utilises Git under the hood. We’ve streamlined the Git workflow so that designers can still use these powerful features without getting too distracted from their day to day workflow. We want to support a designers workflow - not take over it. Trunk currently supports both Sketch and Photoshop(Alpha). It's like Git but for designers. Saved us lot of time. No more issues when working on the same file, super easy to keep track of the changes, very collaborative.

Pros:

Very easy to use and helpful tool for designers

Tried it for an hour and really like it. I have 2 questions. 1. My trouble is our current workflow. We use box.com for file saving and unless I save a desktop version of the sketch file Trunk won't recognize my changes. Is using something box.com and trunk possible in the near future? 2. If we change our workflow and save desktop versions of sketch files, will everyone need to constantly download and upload their sketch files? Thanks in advance, I've been waiting for this software for quite some time.

@perazamichael Hey Michael. Thanks for your comments. 1/ We've had a few people ask for Box integration and are looking at this as part of our enterprise solution. Be interested to understand more details on your workflow. Would it be possible to connect on email to discuss? 2/ Regarding the Sketch files - we've built Trunk in a way that the files will sit locally and only sync with the cloud when needed. This is to ensure that everything is in sync with your team. We've done some things to optimise the upload/download of files, so hopefully it should be a pretty smooth process for your team. @elliottrisby Sure thing, you can email me at michaelp at copiousinc dot com However, for the sake others who share the same workflow and want to see the answer: We use box sync and work off of files in our box folders. To avoid sketch conflicts we work off one "master" sketch file and save a duplicated version with our name appended (terrible, I know). Then these named sketch files have the art boards copied to the master sketch file. As a small team, putting the box.com integration behind enterprise will lock us out of that functionality. Downloading and uploading sketch files sounds more tedious than what we are currently doing. While in theory, I can get my team to start downloading and uploading sketch files often (not too keen on it atm), paying for yet another service is a hard sell for me to get approved. Thoughts?

App looks great and is easy to use, works great within a large UX team environment. We've implemented Trunk seamlessly into our existing design process.

Pros:

Very fast integration with Sketch and awesome 'interactive 3D - UI viewer' to help quickly identify the location of design revisions.

Cons:

The only issue I've found was that I wasn't able to immediatly compare updates made to a very large .psd file.
