Trove is a chrome extension that allows you to create highlights and comments across the internet and send them to Notion โ without ever leaving your browser.
Thanks @mwseibel for the hunt! Hi everyone, I'm Ali! Excited to share Trove with you!

@akshath_sivaprasad and I built Trove because we wanted a better way of bringing online knowledge into Notion.
For me, it was because I use August Bradley's PPV system, and found that I consistently ๐น๐ผ๐๐ ๐ณ๐น๐ผ๐ when copying and pasting research into Notion, or moving across Instapaper, Pocket, and Readwise just to highlight and add comments.
There are two main use cases where we found ourselves using Trove:
๐ญ. ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ, ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต ๐
Ex. Combing through documentation, learning a new language, understanding why dogecoin went up 80% yesterday.
Ex. A stray comment on reddit, a meme about the Suez canal, the latest news about Elon Musk, or any of Naval's tweets

@eugenehp echo-ing Akshath - love that idea! Would love to chat to hear more about your use case to nail down specifics (how you'd want the quotation formatted, citations): https://www.calendly.com/ali-wet...
This is absolutely ๐ฅ Immediate forward to our team. Can see plenty of applications for marketing, our developers,....everybody constantly researches stuff online for ongoing projects
I've been using trove for a few weeks now, and I've noticed drastically less open chrome windows. Highly recommend. Love the product and the team ๐ @ali_wetrill and @akshath_sivaprasad can't wait to see what's coming soon!
@coffeestacker (1) love the handle it reflects my literal current state of being (2) thank you!! Your feedback was super helpful, looking forward to getting another round after this launch calms down :)
Really excited about this! As an avid user of various note-keeping methods + tools (roam/notion/evernote/etc) context switching is such a pain... Excited to see where Trove is going! The progress from a user perspective is hella fast! Hoping some day I can have a tool where I just browse the web, take notes, and naturally I form connections with previous notes I've taken without having to become a librarian.
@morriscode librarian was my childhood dream job so happy to provide that value :) thank you for being an early user and such a great supporter with rock solid feedback <3 excited to test features with you and have you on the journey ๐
@morriscode Also featured highlight:
"a tool where I just browse the web, take notes, and naturally I form connections with previous notes I've taken without having to become a librarian." ๐ค
Thank you Michael for hunting us and hello PH community!
Context switching sucks. There's so much interesting information out there that I want to collect & commit to memory, but opening my knowledge store every time and manually writing out relevant content takes time and is annoying. Ali and I built Trove to solve this problem--saving highlights on any page is now just a click away~
Let us know what you think!
I absolutely love using Trove! It has been a huge help with reducing the number of active tabs I keep on my computer and helping me retain important information. Keep up the great work guys :)
This looks like a dream come true.
But, for some reason, I can't seem to make it work for me. It keeps throwing a timeout error.
"timeout of 5000ms exceeded"
Anybody else experiencing this?
Trove is amazing. I'm able to save highlights right to notion, but also, I can just save the page if I haven't had time to read it yet & close the tab. Chrome no longer goes brrrrrr!! My ram thanks you.
Congrats! Really cool product. Love the fine grained nature of being able to capture just a snippet instead of the whole site. Also, really like being able to annotate/comment on items.
Here is a really quick product review I put together: https://racket.com/p/ph-product-...
@phil_wittig thank you so much!!!! This feedback is much appreciated and love the review. What you mentioned -- not wanting to clip the entire page everytime -- is exactly what I was going for!
This addresses a big issue with capture in Notion and takes it to the next level. I have not seen any tool capture reading content real-time from the article's home page as effectively. It's nice to be able to do this in the context of the original article. Great work Ali & Akshath.
@augustbradley thank you so much, this really means a lot to me ๐ feel free to DM me anytime with feedback, we're working on pulling together our new short-term roadmap (like the one we showed you before) but for the next month!
?makers Two questions: 1) It would seem that all highlights have to be taken in a current session. I.E. I tested by highlighting and then opened the website again in a new session window and when I went to highlight, there were no preexisting highlights, I had to highlight again, and the Notion sync resulted in two database item entries. 2) Should the tool be pulling in the meta data from a page in some fashion for the title of the database item? That would be helpful, though it would be nice to be able to modify as well. Thank you!
@monicarysavy Hi! (1) is odd, we'll take a look on our servers and see if we can replicate it, that shouldn't happen at all. When the 'Save' button is clicked, the highlights should appear on the page as well as in your Notion (2) Yes! We're working on that right now :)
Appreciate the question ๐ Your DMs are closed on Twitter but would love to get in touch -- your perspective would be invaluable as we create mockups for new features ๐
Saves me so much time, thanks for this.
@ali_wetrill At a later data when you have enough data you could create "page highlights", seeing what others have highlighted and saved on the page.
@joseph_burfitt this is actually where we want to go, eventually having public opt-in highlighting to create a shared knowledge community. having people broadcast and curate knowledge and eventually monetize that curation is what we would like.
Just figuring out the best way to get there :) If you have time, would love to chat and hear more: www.calendly.com/ali-wetrill/20
@simoelalj thanks! and not right now, and we will keep a version for personal use free forever.
It is something we've thought about quite extensively -- depending on how people use this we'll iterate accordingly.
@simoelalj would absolutely love to chat though! I am a huge fan of notion automations, and very curious how you're finding people + able to have so many integrations. DM-ing on Twitter!
