[Note: All Product Hunt users skip the waitlist with the EXACT code “PRODUCTHUNT” in the first 48 hours.] 👋 Hello Product Hunt! I’m Nicole, one of the co-founders of Travis (www.travistravis.co), from Melbourne, Australia! Thank you @chrismessina for hunting us 🙏 So - the idea for Travis came along pre-COVID. Tom and I would travel a few times a year. We LOVED discovering “that new place” and “that new city”, and planned all of our trips on our own. Then came one midnight, I was on the floor, with 42 Google tabs, Insta screenshots, Google maps, spreadsheets around me - just to bring yet another trip to life - and that was when the ‘What if?’ moment struck. Once we started speaking with all our friends - and beyond - we realised we weren’t the only ones who were crying out loud for a simpler, central digital solution to make travel much, much easier. Fast forward to now, we’ve evolved countless times, navigated COVID, and now we’re excited to open our beta doors to you guys on Product Hunt. 🚀 Think of Travis like Pinterest, built especially for travel. We believe in a future where we can unlock the collective knowledge and diverse experiences of travellers - as trusted stories and guides to inspire others in the community. We also believe that the potential value of these stories can only be fully realised, when paired by with the right tools and functionality to help travellers bring their travel plans to life. 🚀 Travis is now a work in progress - to achieving this future vision in a simple platform. Today, you can: 1. Share your own stories - help others discover your local gems, weekend escapes, and future trips near and far 2. Discover 1000s of unique places - simply start scrolling, follow others to build your own feed, or search for a city. 3. Curate moodboards - hit the heart to keep your travel ideas organised in a single visual hub, and see it all on a map! 4. And as expected.. a huge product backlog. 👉 So, hop on, and give Travis a go! I’d love to hear what you love, how you think it could be even better, and any questions. Feel free to say hi directly at nicole@travistravis.co - or drop any of our team a direct message, too!

@chrismessina @travistravis @eugenehp thank you Eugene! Love to hear your feedback :)

I’m a French Technologist who moved to Australia 7 years ago. Travel and technology are the core of who I am. I’ve travelled quite a bit, been exposed to lots of different cultures and mindsets, and most importantly for my role at Travis - I’ve always loved building products that touch on both creativity and diversity. Very excited to be part of this journey with a team of smart and open-minded people, trying to bring human connection and travel inspiration together! I hope you’ll enjoy using Travis as much as I’ve enjoyed building it. We already have lots of ideas to bring our product to its mature state. But would love to hear if any suggestions, feedback or questions!
Sylvain (:seel-vahn)
@nikolasburk Thanks for your support Nikolas!
Christopher Hoang
Brilliant product ❤️ No more split-screen with google maps on one screen, excel/note-taking app on another to plan! Love your work team @ Travis
Nicole Tj
@christopher_hoang yeah!! Because planning for a holiday shouldn't feel like major project management ;) thank you for your support.
Nikolay Siabrenko
Cool product, currently this works only in Australia? Do you have any suggestions for solo travellers or connect solo travellers to travel together?
Nicole Tj
@nikolay_siabrenko thank you for checking Travis out! The web app works anywhere in the world but yes, we’ve focused our early community in Australia, and you’ll see most guides shared for Australia right now. In a couple of weeks we should have an update that will help with discovering key places to visit across cities around the world much better. And no specifics for solo travellers yet - but we’d love to introduce a way for shared interest communities to better connect and interact on Travis too. Love to hear what you’d love to see?
Nikolay Siabrenko
@nicole_tj Maybe something where you can find small group of people with whom you can travel. For example - if you travel alone you pay for hotel 100$, if you travel with +1 you pay 110$ for all, it's more cheaper travel together.
Nicole Tj
@nikolay_siabrenko ah I like that idea :) have you already done this in some other way?
Ryan Chaliff
Cool product! Upvote for your great work.
Nicole Tj
@ryanchaliff1 thank you Ryan! Love for you to give Travis a whirl.
Tony Hackett
This is an engaging environment that combines art, with functionality and currency. It has made planning trips easier and more fun for my family.
Nicole Tj
@tonyhackett I'm so glad to hear! We want to keep improving this too. Where to next for you?
Tony Hackett
@nicole_tj we are planning for regional Victoria at the end of June. I am seeing food and wine in my future!
Nicole Tj
@tonyhackett so much food and wine! We've got some good regional VIC guides to help you out :)
Aron Kornhall
I like this a lot! Done the spreadsheet thing... How do you plan to make money on this? Ads? Deals with tavel agencies?
Thomas Lo
@arokor That’s awesome to hear, and thank you for the support! Travis is free to use for any travellers to share and discover within the community. Next we’re looking at a tiered subscription model for 1) more creation tools and creator monetisation opportunities such as premium content, and 2) more advanced group planning and collaboration functionalities for travellers Longer term it’ll likely evolve to include an offering to travel and tourism brands - to reach creators and travellers on the platform.
Ковальчук Владимир
Wow! Great product, I really need this in my next travel. Thanks and congrats on launch!
Nicole Tj
@kovalchuk_vladimir thank you for being here! Love for you to give Travis a whirl and hear your feedback :)

Tom here! I’m co-founder of Travis 😊 I used to design homes and buildings. Now I design digital experiences. Thank you all for your support for our first steps on Product Hunt! We often get asked - “What’s behind the name Travis?” Well, it’s based on the open-ended statement of “Travel is…” - as we believe that travel means so many different things, to so many people. We’re a small and mighty team of 3, and despite all the obvious COVID challenges, it’s been a joy designing for the future of travel that we believe in - and we see that so many travellers are waiting for! From a user perspective, we’ve aimed to balance a couple of things: Providing a hub which is both aspirational and functional - by allowing travellers to inspire other travellers, and giving the tools to keep the experience in one place! Providing a platform which has room to be flexible in handling different travelling scenarios - whether you’re purely in inspo saving mode, ready-to-plan mode, or travelling with a group. This will continue to grow over time. I’d love for you to test out Travis, and open to your feedback to help take this to the next level. I’m also always up for hearing out your current travel rants 😉 Btw - it might take up to 15 minutes for you guys to receive your email once you’ve signed up today! Thanks for being patient!

The product looks awesome! Also, love the video!
Nicole Tj
@ygnys hehe hope the video put a little smile on your face. @thomas_lo1 had fun pulling it together. Love to hear your feedback once you get your hands on the beta!
Vincent Leung
Was part of the beta, and have been impressed by the interface. Thought it was just for overseas trips (driving my own wanderlust) but actually works quite well even just to adventure in my own city (there was a section that was just for korean restaurants in my city (YES!)) - love that it's been adapted that way for our COVID times. Good luck travis!
Thomas Lo
@vincent_leung1 Thanks!! Glad you've been enjoying using Travis, feel free to share a few stories of your favourite Korean restaurants adventures too. ;) We're constantly learning how to make the platform better, what's one thing you'd love to get your hands on Travis next?
Beverly Goh
Have created guides with Travis and love the ability to automatically have my favourite locations mapped out on me on Google maps instead of manually chucking it into the Google map app!! The new search functionality is a nice touch. Currently using it to browse local spots but can’t wait to take it to overseas (vaccination come at me!) Good luck with the exciting launches ahead!!
Thomas Lo
@hespiria That is definitely what we want to achieve, getting rid of excel sheets and manually jotting down google maps and info. There will be a new release in a few weeks time for even better search function. Stay tuned!
Maxine L
We use Travis to plan all our weekend getaways, as well as interstate travel - such great UX and design. Great to use for your travel planning!
Thomas Lo
@maxine_l Thanks and that's great to hear! Where's your next trip and what else would you like to see in Travis next that will help more of your weekend getaways?
Ken Moo
I like how the recommendations are displayed. Great UI! Even if you are not travelling, this is a great place to browse around and feel happy. Good job!
Thomas Lo
@kenmoo Thank you for the kind comment! We definitely need some positivity in all our lives right now. Did any story catch your eye?
Sarah Worboys
I LOVE perusing Travis for inspiration when planning my next staycation ..or something further North (*ahem* QLD I'm looking at YOU!) This is the perfect platform for discovering and planning insta-worthy adventures.
Sylvain (:seel-vahn)
@sarah_worboys Thanks for your support Sarah, we are starting to have quite a few stories about QLD. Hopefully, you'll find some great inspiration for your next trip up there!
Murone Maroni
I quite often share my travel tips and itineraries with friends and family...in a dull google doc with heaps of links. I have recently created a travel story on Travis, and it's looking schmick! The interface is intuitive and really smooth so it was easy to put everything together. Well done to the team and look forward to seeing where the next updates take us :)
Sylvain (:seel-vahn)
Thanks for the nice feedback @murone!! Glad that you are part of the Beta. We have lots of cool features planned to make the platform even more social!
Edoardo Neerhut
The scenario Nicole describes above is exactly why I have found Travis so compelling. A centralised place to organise your travels. It is rare to see a beta launch with the product/design flair that Travis has pulled off. I'll continue to use Travis to plan my travels and to share stories from along the way. Can't wait to see how Travis develops as the community grows.
Nicole Tj
@edoardo_neerhut thank you for appreciating the product and design work so far! Much to do to keep building on this.. especially as we are seeing domestic travel return in many parts of the world now. Curious to know where your next trip might be?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Love this product! Great for local trips during covid
Thomas Lo
@ryan_fitzpatrick2 🙌 Thanks! Local trips are definitely important for local tourism at the moment too!
Kal Jamshidi
Love the UI / aesthetic! Couldn't be more timely... speaking for myself (and probably the rest of the world) I'm itching to plan that next trip. Love the social aspect to this too.
Thomas Lo
@kjam___ Thanks! Hopefully Travis will get to tag along to your next trip. Meanwhile perhaps a tag along to your next weekend getaway?
Omer Asif
glad someone made this.
Sylvain (:seel-vahn)
Love to hear this 🙏 Thanks @omerasif !
