Hey friends! It's been a few years since the Transistor team did a Product Hunt launch. We're really excited to launch AI podcast transcriptions. πŸŽ‰ A few key features: - Audio-to-text transcription, powered by Deepgram AI. - Automatic speaker detection (diarization). - Users can view/download their transcripts as plain text, SRT, VTT, JSON, and HTML files. - My favorite feature: we create a web page version of the transcript for each episode, which includes shareable timestamps. Example. - Simple transcript editing interface to make quick corrections.

@mijustin I'm not a podcaster myself, but as a consumer I love this. It happens many times that I listened to something interesting and I would like to look it up again. Podcasts having a transcript is awesome for that.

@raae haha. I like that idea! Speaker stats!
Michele Hansen
Love that you've added this, Justin! Now I don't have to use a separate tool for transcription!

Congrats on shipping the new transcription feature! The implementation looks so clean and easy to use. Neat how speaker attribution can be detected on subsequent transcriptions too.

@sarahcassady Thanks you!

As a user of Transistor.fm for hosting my Podcasts, I can say this is an excellent addition to the service. I tried it out and with my mixed British/Texan accent it still nailed transcribing every thing I said along with my guest. It also accurately identified each speaker throughout the podcast. Well done! The price is also very reasonable.

Justin and the rest of the team, This looks great and I will come in handy for me because I was thinking of starting to put a transcript in my show notes the other day

@supremerumham yes. We include these in the RSS feed as well, so apps that support it (like Apple Podcasts) will display them.

Congrats on the launch, Transistor team! Some people might see this launch and roll their eyes... "Transcription? Other tools of been doing this for YEARS!" I've been a Transistor customer since the very beginning, and it's my #1 recommendation when someone asks me where they should host their show. You know why? Because Justin, Jon, Josh, Helen, and the rest of the team have always been thoughtful and considerate about how they expand the platform. They don't blindly rush to add a shiny new feature or technology because everyone else is doing it and they want to maintain feature parity. Instead, they use first principles thinking, starting with whether or not this feature will actually serve the needs of THEIR customers. If the answer is yes, they spend a significant amount of time planning out the BEST way to implement the feature, not just the fastest or most cost efficient. When Transistor launches something new, you can rest assured that it has been put through multiple quality filters and will work well from day one. And if anything does seem out of sorts, their customer support has always been incredibly responsive and kind. Really, really excited to see automatic transcription layered on top of an already rock-solid audio hosting platform! Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Hey Justin, Jon and the rest of the team. Good initiative. This type of product could be useful for me as, using AI, you can take it a step further and generate a list of the main topic covered during the podcast as well as the key takeaways.
