I wonder what the improvements are for this model. The original Tile doesn't do separation alerts. It won't beep when you move away from your tracked item like Trackr does. From the video, it's unclear if this new supports that now. Looks like it may still not. Hard to do separation alerts for something with a range of 100+ feet of course.
Edit: According to this, it's 25% lighter and it had a keyring hole. I bought a Tile a few weeks back and it's already got a keyring hole though. They do say it's slimmer, which is great for people attaching this to a remote e.g., who want to add less thickness and not have to go for their Tile Slim.
Had the first version as well, used it once. The small size is a big improvement in my opinion, the previous one was way too big for me to use. Still, I'm not buying a new one, I noticed that I never lose stuff.
I've had 4 tiles myself for 2 years now (which are all almost out of battery) and I have to say it is nice to have. It makes you feel a little bit more comfortable and I use it for my keys and my bag, especially when I am travelling abroad for work. I fortunately never had to use it but I can imagine it being very useful.
I am not able to compare the old one, which I have, with this one though. I do have to say the old one comes with a keyring hole as well, like some correctly stated above.
Is it worth $25? Absolutely not. Can it be handy? Yes, for sure.
One extra note: when they are almost out of battery, you do have the option to purchase a new one for a cheaper price. Though it is nice, I still haven't made the decision to purchase new ones given they still are several tens of dollars and I don't like the new design as much. Even if they are more slim, the logo stands out more (based on the pictures I saw).
Darn, the battery still isn't user replaceable/rechargeable, and the logo, while smaller, is actually a lot more noticeable/obnoxious now. Anyone know of a particularly good alternative without those flaws?
@captainwonkish I got this product as a bonus gift during my Birchbox subscription - https://www.xyfindit.com/ ...It's not bad....I have had mine for a while...They have a new version out. Might want to check it out as a viable replacement for the tile.
I'll be honest, I bought the original Tile a few years ago and was thoroughly unimpressed. Going to take a bit more than a slimmer design and louder ringtone.
