Looks like a valuable tool for creators who want to get more out of their short-form content than just ephemeral stories. Love that the content can be indexed ๐Ÿ™Œ
Franz Schrepf
@lachlankirkwood Thanks Lachlan! Completely agree, we definitely want to make sure all the great stories people create are preserved and more people can benefit from them ๐Ÿค™
Sabba Keynejad
Really interesting idea. How do the cards perform with SEO? Do you want to position yourself as a tool for other companies to use on their own site? Or as a platform like instructables.com
Franz Schrepf
@sab8a Hi Sabba! ๐Ÿ‘‹ We use the text description in each story as keywords for SEO and see ourselves more as a platform like an "instant instructables" where people can find answers immediately.

Awesome work guys! Interactive content will be the new norm for e-learning. Have you thought of giving the app to kids or teachers in the classrooms? And for creators now they can see which parts of their how-to's people struggle with the most so they can make their content better! Best of luck!
Cameron James
@yassinelanda Hi Yassine ๐Ÿ‘‹ The potential use case of kids and teachers is 100% on our radar! We've also been looking at charities who want to share valuable safety or awareness information ๐Ÿ”ฅThanks for the support!
Latif Baluch
Cool concept, congrats on the work so far! I like the design, super clean and easy to sign up. Search is very useful. Videos were a bit slow to load but I'm sure you guys will do your best as you grow. Is there are particular category/vertical you're going to push more? Given it's a learning based platform are you going to do anything to manage quality control?
Cameron James
@latifbaluch1 Hi Latif, Thanks for the feedback! ๐Ÿ™Œ Video loading time is something we're working on, we've overcome initial memory problems to get to this point, but we're looking to take it that one step further toward being super a slick app ๐Ÿš€ In terms of categories we want to push DIY, (informational) travel, cooking and all round education ๐Ÿ›  So if you have even a basic skillset in any of those, your Tick stories will be more than welcome! Quality control will be managed through: A clear set of community guidelines, a reporting system that will allow users to flag inappropriate content (that breaks said guidelines) for moderation. With the UpTick and DownTick system the community can manage quality themselves by awarding credibility to useful Tick stories. We have a community team at this moment that is able to keep tabs on all the content currently, but as we scale we will adjust to manage our content bank more efficiently ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hello ProductHunters! ๐Ÿ‘‹ Franz here from Tick.Done! Weโ€™re super stoked to be here ๐Ÿ™€ Over the past year, we have been secretly building our micro-video platform which enables you to perform plenty of tasks and new skills in less than a minute ๐Ÿ’ก We call it "just-in-time learnings" but "Snapchat meets How-To videos" is also catchy. Our team believes that the current state of online video no longer matches its purpose โŒ Too many platforms are designed to keep you on their as long as possible, with smart algorithms sending you down rabbit holes of content (with no intention of empowering them to implement what theyโ€™re learning in real life) At Tick. Done, weโ€™re on a mission to empower a billion people to do a million new things. Itโ€™s the internet squeezed out for all its good stuff. With our How-To Story Creator tool, you can easily record and edit stories on the go which are then searchable in Google and can be viewed even without the app, helping others around the world ๐ŸŒ This is our first major release from the platform and as always it's in constant beta, but we are super excited to see it fly! Have a look, share something your great at and let us know what you think! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ Thanks Franz ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Franz Schrepf
Thank you so much for your ongoing support and feedback everybody, what a launch! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ Happy to see the first major release from our platform is so well received, there are many more to come as we push to achieve our mission of enabling a billion people to do a million new things! ๐Ÿ”ฅ Best, Franz and the entire team at Tick. Done.

@franz_schrepf any future plans of integration between Instagram stories? Exporting the videos as individual clips to share how-tos on Instagram?
Franz Schrepf
@ryan_wenk Hi Ryan! Exporting videos as individual clips for use on other platforms is definitely on our roadmap. Instagram unfortunately doesn't allow direct publishing to stories yet but we hope it'll get there soon so we can share more how-tos
Stuart Waterman
Looks like it tackles that issue of watching a 'how to' video and having to rewind and rewatch the important bits, so I can see how useful this will be. Look forward to the Android version!
Cameron James
@stu_waterman Spot on ๐Ÿ”ฅIf you want you can follow us on our channels we'll let you know when the Android version drops! ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ’ฃ

As a content creator and Iโ€™ve been using Tick for the past month as one of the early testers. Love the trimming and slow motion/speed up features (very advanced for an app this early in development). Huge potential in this as a story format and tool for a lot of creators and people who love to share their craft. Theyโ€™ve got a small community at the moment but this will grow over time.

Pros:

Really nifty creator tool!

Cons:

Currently homes a small (but potentially awesome) community.

Kieran George

Having tutorials, and, even other story-based content (seen a few travel slides on there and life hacks on there) just makes sense. Looks great on screen. Perfect 5/7

Pros:

Intuitive interface and great formatting of content, I love it

Cons:

The Thumbs up feature is okay, but thereโ€™s no commenting on videos which is a shame.

Cameron James
Thanks for the review! Really appreciate the feedback ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป We're deffo looking into commenting and direct messages as a means to communicate with other Tick creators!
Dave Clarke
Iโ€™ve downloaded the app and just started exploring... what do you think is your key benefit over tutorial videos on YouTube or similar?
Cameron James
@dave_clarke1 Hi Dave ๐Ÿ‘‹Awesome question. Our main benefits is that we're: Faster to consume (no lengthy intros or filler) ๐Ÿš€ Easier to follow (steps repeat until you need to move on) ๐Ÿ›  Mobile optimised (works in vertical and on-the-go) Creators can use our intuitive in-app editing tool as opposed to professional tools, then upload quickly as opposed to a heavy web-upload! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Can โ€˜tickโ€™ make mortgages and tax as easy as the steps to fitting a lightbulb? If so, itโ€™s my new hero

Pros:

Super easy to use and very accessible!

Cons:

None at the minute!

Cameron James
Omg that would be awesome! We'll look into the tax stuff ๐Ÿค“Might be hard to do with sensitive information but there might be a work around!
Winston Barlow
Great to see Tick launched! Congrats! I'd be interesting to know how do you plan on monetising your platform and allowing creators to monetise their accounts? Ads? Sponsored posts?
Cameron James
@winston_barlow Hi Winston ๐Ÿ‘‹There are numerous options we are looking into in regards to monetisation. Sponsored posts are one of them, however weโ€™re focussing on building a world-class product before we truly explore these options. Creators will be able to post links on their profile and at the end of their stories so can monetise that section as they want! We understand people gotta eat ๐Ÿ˜‹

The way Tick allows you to format videos is really well suited to the how-to video especially on mobile (which is where a variety of browsing occurs these days). Love the concept and I canโ€™t wait to see more and more creators publish some insightful and useful content on this platform!

Pros:

Excellent mission, potentially game-changing ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Cons:

Lacks a wide variety of content, but will grow in time Iโ€™m sure

Cameron James
Thanks for the review Felipe! Yeah that's the thing, but we're just at the beginning of our journey ๐Ÿš€Soon there will be Ticks covering a huge number of how-to's ๐Ÿ™Œ
Graham S

love the upright format and quick swipe through; inspiring mission to get people off the internet! Huge versatility for photos, videos, web images etc - look forward to seeing what people can create with it

Pros:

Ridiculously easy to create short-form videos for instruction;

Cons:

can you have a feature for converting longer form videos to Ticks?

Cameron James
Hi Graham! Yes, you can import longer videos and trim them to fit within the 7 second window, but it's not perfect yet! We've got plans to make it even easier to import longer videos by speeding up steps, and a more powerful trimming tool. These will come later ๐Ÿ˜
kim richardson
Great concept. Will be sharing a few skills of my own on this. Love how itโ€™s a step by step so I donโ€™t have to rewind videos or like Instagram where I have to watch from the beginning again.
Cameron James
@kim_richardson Thanks Kim ๐Ÿ˜ Precisely! We look forward to seeing your skills ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Sydney Meeks Fowler
I was impressed by the โ€œmanifestoโ€ I recently read and look forward to seeing how the platform unfolds and grows!
Franz Schrepf
@sydney_meeks_fowler thanks Sydney! Now that the creator tool is public we have some big plans for the upcoming months, the best way to stay up to date with the next steps is to sign up for our newsletter (only twice a month and guaranteed no spam) --> www.tick.co
Arthur Bax

Really nifty little app! Wish I could put gifs and different colour text but I remember snapchat taking a while to bring this in so Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s coming

Pros:

No ads and annoying pop ups, full of value content as opposed to the fluff you find on other platforms

Cons:

White text looks great, looks like theyโ€™ve done some shadowing on it to make it stand out, but I wish you could do other colours

Cameron James
Hey Arthur, thanks for the feedback! Various text colours, stickers and gifs are definitely something we're looking into ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Kenny Muho

It would be great to be able to pause the video segments by holding the screen with your finger like the feature on Instagram stories

Pros:

- Very intuitive to use - Slick design - Countless use cases

Cons:

- Inability to pause videos

Cameron James
Thanks for the feedback Kenny! Pausing could be a feature we look into so thank you for your feedback ๐Ÿ™Œ
Bryn Dunwell

So far, Tick Done has significantly reduced my workload and my content is looking sharp and polished. Looking forward to seeing the library grow which I know is something they're looking at already.

Pros:

Lots of good looking content on there already and it's only going to get better from here on out.

Cons:

If I was being nitpicky, some categories are bigger than others. Would like to see more in future updates.

Cameron James
Thanks Bryn ๐Ÿ”ฅ Certainly, as we scale the content on there will scale as well!
Joe Porter

Love it - just want to see more profile customisation!

Pros:

Huge potential, love the unique format and that you can open it in-app or on whichever web browser you use.

Cons:

Apart from a profile picture there isnโ€™t much profile customisation which I'd like to see...

Dylan Hey
Hey guys, quick question. What do people make Tick stories of usually?
Cameron James
@dylan_hey Hey Dylan! Can be anything really! Cooking, DIY, sports, travel and Life Hacks are amongst are most common stories at this moment ๐Ÿ‘
