Hello ProductHunters! πŸ‘‹ Franz here from Tick.Done! We’re super stoked to be here πŸ™€ Over the past year, we have been secretly building our micro-video platform which enables you to perform plenty of tasks and new skills in less than a minute πŸ’‘ We call it "just-in-time learnings" but "Snapchat meets How-To videos" is also catchy. Our team believes that the current state of online video no longer matches its purpose ❌ Too many platforms are designed to keep you on their as long as possible, with smart algorithms sending you down rabbit holes of content (with no intention of empowering them to implement what they’re learning in real life) At Tick. Done, we’re on a mission to empower a billion people to do a million new things. It’s the internet squeezed out for all its good stuff. With our How-To Story Creator tool, you can easily record and edit stories on the go which are then searchable in Google and can be viewed even without the app, helping others around the world 🌍 This is our first major release from the platform and as always it's in constant beta, but we are super excited to see it fly! Have a look, share something your great at and let us know what you think! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Thanks Franz 😎
Franz Schrepf
Thank you so much for your ongoing support and feedback everybody, what a launch! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Happy to see the first major release from our platform is so well received, there are many more to come as we push to achieve our mission of enabling a billion people to do a million new things! πŸ”₯ Best, Franz and the entire team at Tick. Done.

@franz_schrepf any future plans of integration between Instagram stories? Exporting the videos as individual clips to share how-tos on Instagram?
Franz Schrepf
@ryan_wenk Hi Ryan! Exporting videos as individual clips for use on other platforms is definitely on our roadmap. Instagram unfortunately doesn't allow direct publishing to stories yet but we hope it'll get there soon so we can share more how-tos
Stuart Waterman
Looks like it tackles that issue of watching a 'how to' video and having to rewind and rewatch the important bits, so I can see how useful this will be. Look forward to the Android version!
Cameron James
@stu_waterman Spot on πŸ”₯If you want you can follow us on our channels we'll let you know when the Android version drops! 😊 πŸ’£
Dylan Hey
Hey guys, quick question. What do people make Tick stories of usually?
Cameron James
@dylan_hey Hey Dylan! Can be anything really! Cooking, DIY, sports, travel and Life Hacks are amongst are most common stories at this moment πŸ‘
Karl Marty Balingit
Is there an android version?
Cameron James
@karlmartybalingit Hey Karl πŸ‘‹ Not yet, unfortunately! We have been building one alongside this version and it should be ready soon πŸ”₯
Sabba Keynejad
Really interesting idea. How do the cards perform with SEO? Do you want to position yourself as a tool for other companies to use on their own site? Or as a platform like instructables.com
Franz Schrepf
@sab8a Hi Sabba! πŸ‘‹ We use the text description in each story as keywords for SEO and see ourselves more as a platform like an "instant instructables" where people can find answers immediately.
Miguel Baumann
Hey guys, how do you distinguish from al the DIY youtube videos? I found everything there until now
Cameron James
@miguel_baumann Great question! We're focussed on delivering instant knowledge that you can use on the spot, fast, easy to follow and informative. It'll take time, however we're building a community of really skilled users who are sharing their DIY skills πŸ›  But if you don't see something on there that you can do? You should make your first Tick Story and share your knowledge! πŸ”₯
Dave Clarke
I’ve downloaded the app and just started exploring... what do you think is your key benefit over tutorial videos on YouTube or similar?
Cameron James
@dave_clarke1 Hi Dave πŸ‘‹Awesome question. Our main benefits is that we're: Faster to consume (no lengthy intros or filler) πŸš€ Easier to follow (steps repeat until you need to move on) πŸ›  Mobile optimised (works in vertical and on-the-go) Creators can use our intuitive in-app editing tool as opposed to professional tools, then upload quickly as opposed to a heavy web-upload! 😊
Ashley Parker
Looking forward to using this for sharing procedures
Cameron James
@ashley_parker1 I look forward to seeing your Tick Stories πŸ”₯
Yassine Landa
Awesome work guys! Interactive content will be the new norm for e-learning. Have you thought of giving the app to kids or teachers in the classrooms? And for creators now they can see which parts of their how-to's people struggle with the most so they can make their content better! Best of luck!
Cameron James
@yassinelanda Hi Yassine πŸ‘‹ The potential use case of kids and teachers is 100% on our radar! We've also been looking at charities who want to share valuable safety or awareness information πŸ”₯Thanks for the support!
Kieran Hill
Beautiful interface and super interesting concept, well done.
Cameron James
@kieranleehill Thanks Kieran ✌️
Winston Barlow
Great to see Tick launched! Congrats! I'd be interesting to know how do you plan on monetising your platform and allowing creators to monetise their accounts? Ads? Sponsored posts?
Cameron James
@winston_barlow Hi Winston πŸ‘‹There are numerous options we are looking into in regards to monetisation. Sponsored posts are one of them, however we’re focussing on building a world-class product before we truly explore these options. Creators will be able to post links on their profile and at the end of their stories so can monetise that section as they want! We understand people gotta eat πŸ˜‹
Lachlan Kirkwood
Looks like a valuable tool for creators who want to get more out of their short-form content than just ephemeral stories. Love that the content can be indexed πŸ™Œ
Franz Schrepf
@lachlankirkwood Thanks Lachlan! Completely agree, we definitely want to make sure all the great stories people create are preserved and more people can benefit from them πŸ€™
Anne Butcher
Seems really straightforward and clear to understand. Think it’s a great idea...
Cameron James
@anne_butcher Thanks Anne! Delightfully simple it what we aim to be πŸ™Œ
Siddharth Ramesh
How is it different from Instagram stories?
Cameron James
@srameshrr Hi Siddharth! Thanks for a great question πŸ‘Œ There are a lot of differences but here are the main ones in terms of technical features…. For starters, Tick stories are made to be searchable in-app like a β€˜how to’ library, whereas Insta stories aren’t searchable and much harder to stumble across. Second, our videos are discoverable in Google search, so if someone searches β€œHow to poach an egg” a story made on our platform could show up as an answer. Lastly our videos can be opened in-app or in any web browser πŸ”₯so you can share a Tick story with people who don’t have the app (yet) πŸ˜‰
Stapho Thienpont
Love it! What's the #1 use case?
Cameron James
@stapho_thienpont Hi Stapho! We’re super proud of our diverse tool, so we believe there are loads of use cases we think can work…. Creators sharing their craft because they love teaching. Creatives showing off their work. Businesses displaying how their products work. Businesses showing how they deliver certain services. Charities sharing awareness how-to’s Then viewers simply searching or being interested in the topics shared To be honest, we’re at this stage where the user can use our platform for what they want, we just want to build the stage from which creators of how-to story content can shine from 🌟
Kieran George

Having tutorials, and, even other story-based content (seen a few travel slides on there and life hacks on there) just makes sense. Looks great on screen. Perfect 5/7

Pros:

Intuitive interface and great formatting of content, I love it

Cons:

The Thumbs up feature is okay, but there’s no commenting on videos which is a shame.

Cameron James
Thanks for the review! Really appreciate the feedback πŸ™πŸ» We're deffo looking into commenting and direct messages as a means to communicate with other Tick creators!
Sydney Meeks Fowler
I was impressed by the β€œmanifesto” I recently read and look forward to seeing how the platform unfolds and grows!
Franz Schrepf
@sydney_meeks_fowler thanks Sydney! Now that the creator tool is public we have some big plans for the upcoming months, the best way to stay up to date with the next steps is to sign up for our newsletter (only twice a month and guaranteed no spam) --> www.tick.co
kim richardson
Great concept. Will be sharing a few skills of my own on this. Love how it’s a step by step so I don’t have to rewind videos or like Instagram where I have to watch from the beginning again.
Cameron James
@kim_richardson Thanks Kim 😁 Precisely! We look forward to seeing your skills πŸ”₯
Arthur Bax

Really nifty little app! Wish I could put gifs and different colour text but I remember snapchat taking a while to bring this in so I’m sure it’s coming

Pros:

No ads and annoying pop ups, full of value content as opposed to the fluff you find on other platforms

Cons:

White text looks great, looks like they’ve done some shadowing on it to make it stand out, but I wish you could do other colours

Cameron James
Hey Arthur, thanks for the feedback! Various text colours, stickers and gifs are definitely something we're looking into πŸ”₯
Keane
Easy to use! Very clever idea.
Cameron James
@keanebeh Thanks!
