This looks far more polished than your initial release, @justinkan. The sub-genre filters are very useful. I'm currently listening to the Chill channel.
Are you considering expanding behind EDM?
P.S. For everyone else, @eriktorenberg and I recorded an episode of Product Hunt Radio with Justin. We'll publishing soon!
@eriktorenberg@rrhoover no plans to expand to other music -- just want to make something I use every day.
Had a ton of fun on that podcast; hope to see it out soon and join you guys again.
Hey everyone! thanks for supporting The Drop on Product Hunt last time; we took your feedback and hacked up a new version of the site. Special shoutouts to ReactJS (my first project using it) and Algolia (amazing API for getting instant search working). Excited to hear what you guys think and what we can do to keep improving the site.
@justinkan Justin, big fan of the site! Haven't used spotify ever since I joined Drop in February :-). Love the new design.
When I want to comment on a track ,site loads a new page. Would love an interface like Producthunt where the product page loads on the same page from the side. Easier to comment ,close it and go back to the home page.
Would love to have a playlist feature. For an example, make my own collections of my favorite dubstep or trance tracks.
Make artist name clickable. So when I click on the artist name, would love to see a list of all his previous tracks hunted on the site.
@justinkan@kwdinc Agree! The Bashaw Bar (cc @nbashaw) is awesome -- would love to see something similar. What if the details overlay expanded from the player at the bottom?
The update is fantastic! You're definitely making something I love.
@justinkan Just joined after seeing it in your AMA and then checked here to see if it was posted ;)
Went to submit... DAMN that list of sub-genres of EDM is daunting! I'm not aware of the intricacies at that level. Any plans to make it more accommodating for a general EDM fan or are you trying to keep submissions niched to the more hardcore for now? I like submitting but it's scary enough that I'll probably stay lurking for fear of getting genre wrong.
I have no idea what v1 was like, but this is awesome! I was *just* complaining about having no new music and this appears from nowhere. Btw, I mostly love that I can listen to the songs from the home page.
Been jamming out on The Drop since it launched... During work hours it has become my main source of music throughout the day. The new version is a major upgrade -- great work!
The new filters on the right hand side are epic. Though, I find myself checking them all and then unchecking the few genres that I don't like.
Will be interesting to see if y'all expand to non-edm as well... Though if soundcloud is the main streaming source the amount of available music reduced pretty substantially. In any case, I'm stoked to have a great source for fresh edm.
