Hey PH! 👋 So excited to be sharing with this builder community: I’m Connie, founder of Tandem. There’s a lot of startups that I admire on here, and hope to work with some of you to superpower your team.
I started Tandem as a second-time founder, having experienced the magic of incredible mentors who helped me navigate the CEO ship the first time around, but also the frustration of trying to find that same expert support for the rest of my team, and coming up empty-handed.
Tandem is for the “first ofs”. If you are the first product manager, marketing director, designer, engineer, etc. at a startup, Tandem is for you. We’ll find you a mentor who can give you critical advice on the important, exciting, sometimes lonely, always fulfilling road of being early at a startup.
We have dozens of mentors who have been in your exact shoes before, or we’ll find your dream mentor if they’re not in our database already. You tell us what you’re looking for, we do the outreach, vetting, and terms-setting so you can jump right into a successful long-term engagement. For 70% of mentees, it was love at first match and they subscribed to meet with their mentors for the long-term.

@yasha_spong thanks for the support! Think of it not as Tinder but as having your own professional matchmaker setting you up with the right fit. We've found that browsing a list of mentors can be overwhelming and not actually result in the best matches. That's why we have mentees fill out an intake form about their needs, and we match them with mentors from both our directory and ones we directly source for them! You can give it a try on our site :)
The power of mentoring is hard to overestimate. As someone who has mentored professionals and youth for the past decade I'm super excited to see this product out in the wild!

Having someone who has "been there, done that" can save so much time and provide peace-of-mind. Getting connected was often an advantage of people who came from the "right" school or family. It's great to see this important function being democratized.

I was one of the first users of Tandem during its pilot phase and, as a functional leader at an early-stage startup, found it to be incredibly valuable. Highly recommend and excited to see this thing taking off!
