Hey Product Hunt, I'm Olav, co-founder of Tana! 👋 We're so excited to finally launch! For the past few years, we've been heads down building a workspace to reinvent how humans, teams, and computers work together. 🫠 The Problem Computers were supposed to be bicycles for our minds. Instead, they've become hamster wheels. We're drowning in busywork—context switching between documents, spreadsheets, endless chats, and loads of single-purpose apps. Our information is siloed and stuck, rarely showing up when we need it. Plugging AI into this mess will only make it worse (imagine the notification hell when AI agents join the party across all your different apps). The journey began with a prototype built to scratch our own itch, drawing from decades of experience in tech (including Grim's work on Google Wave for all you OGs out there). The prototype combined a knowledge graph, an outline editor, and Supertags—an innovative feature inspired by Smalltalk (one of the original OOP languages). It was rough, but we had never worked more effectively. ✨ What is Tana Tana is a new kind of workspace that makes interacting with computers flow naturally. The infrastructure is fundamentally different from most other information processing systems, so it might seem a bit foreign at first. These are three of the core pillars of Tana. A Knowledge Graph That Thinks Like You Do Most tools force you to organize information in rigid hierarchies. Tana's knowledge graph mirrors how your brain works—making it easy to connect and reuse information regardless of where it was stored. Mechanisms to connect and proactively resurface information Instead of manually hunting for information, you can set up customizable feeds that bring the information you need, where you need it. These are highly configurable and can use the graph structure to pull contextually relevant information (e.g. show discussion points for this specific meeting or this specific person) Supertags: From Chaos to Structure in Seconds Our most-loved feature turns unstructured information into structured data instantly. Inspired by object-oriented programming, Supertags let you define what type of information something is (e.g. a task, a project, a client, a bug etc). With this, you can build powerful workflows and AI agents that understand your information and know what to do with it. This is the tip of the iceberg. Tana has loads of powerful features, including a smooth outline editor, references to keep information in sync, backlinks to increase discoverability, powerful view options, commands, events, publish webpages, templates, and more. 🚀 How to get started Sign up at https://tana.inc/ for a free 14-day trial of Tana Plus. We recommend you start using Tana to replace your current notetaking and voice memo apps, and layer on additional use cases as you become familiar with Tana. If you want an easy start: Use voice memos to plan your day and capture ideas. If you're interested in the full power of Tana: We highly recommend you join our Slack community with over 20,000 members. They know Tana better than us and are constantly amazing us with the crazy powerful things they build with Tana. Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and questions! 🙏 Special thanks (and much kudos) - A huuuuuuuuuge shout-out to our Tana community of early adopters. We love you and could never have built this without you ❤️

I really hope Tana carves out a big market share in this space. Because this space is ripe for disruption!
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
@sentry_co amen! We couldn't agree more with that assessment...
Felipe Fraga
@sentry_co This is so true. People deserve a tool as powerful as Tana!!

Wow! Great to see you here, guys! Tana has completely changed my life! I used to be obsessed with structuring thoughts, but I always hit a wall—I needed a space to freely play with ideas and connections. traditional note-taking apps added complexity instead of helping me think. Now, with Tana, I just map my brain, and I’m moving 5X faster in learning and building new things. Massive thanks to the @Tana team! 🔥 My main page in Tana https://drive.google.com/file/d/...
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
@tana @vladimir_levitin Thank you for the support and for sharing your main page in Tana! Super cool to see how different people set up Tana for their specific thoughts and workflows 🤩

Hey Olav! It looks really awesome cause team work can define the company boundaries. If teams can work properly, then you'll be able to reach all the goals you set as founder. Hope everyone see the same and wish you all the best here!
Tarjei Vassbotn
Thanks a lot @german_merlo1 ! Tana for Teams is one of the areas you can expect to see a lot of great stuff coming

I've been using Tana for almost two years, and over this time more and more of the people around me have wondered where my superpowers came from. When they see Tana in action, they are instantly converted. Tana helps me bring order to chaos. It solved that nagging feeling in the back of my head that I was always forgetting *something*. Now, I simply capture my todos, discussion points, and goals in Tana (either on my laptop, or on-the-go using voice). They get automatically assigned, and pop up in the right context when I need them like magic. When I start any meeting, I am greeted by all the relevant content I could ever want. This is great during a meeting, but even better when you take the time every morning to prepare. I can assure you, if you come prepared, you are ten steps ahead of the curve. And Tana gets you there with minimal effort. My Tana process is super simple: - Every week, I go through all my open tasks and pick the ones I intend to do that week - Every morning, I pick what I want to do that day from my weekly tasks and go through each of my meetings (with the magic related content mentioned above) - Every month, I look at my Tana process and tinker with it. Adding, but mostly removing. Slowly, perfecting it step-by-step I think the last point illustrates the true magic of Tana. It is a shapeshifter. It will be exactly what you want it to be. If you are a tinkerer, it's a dream, but even if that scares you a bit, the amount of community templates and support on their Slack will bring you up to speed. I've tried to capture all I have learned about Tana in a single, free template called Orbital. See it in action here: https://youtu.be/zahSPVAmf_0

@dreetje Andre! Your help and your insights have been out of this world. I particularly love how you've developed such a thoughtful, iterative approach to using Tana. Your simple three-step process (weekly review, daily planning, monthly refinement) showcases how simple yet powerful a setup can be. Thank you for being an essential part of our journey. Users like you make all the hard work worthwhile.

I've been a PH member for nearly 10 years and this is one of those rare times I need to comment and not just hit the like button. This is one amazing piece of software. It has completely changed how I run my startup and get stuff done. The UI/UX, the speed, the smooth connections, the simple transition from just a text editor to a system which can be as deep and complicated as you want it to be, everything is right on point. Can't imagine life without it.
Tarjei Vassbotn
How nice of you, @tallguyruman! Your support is greatly appreciated!
Olav Sindre Kriken
Fantastic to hear, @tallguyruman!
Jake Singer
Tana is, bar none, the most exciting new app I've dug into in the past few years. Supertags are revolutionary (shameless plug, I just posted a video on why these are superior to Notion, https://youtu.be/NcNhcbvbG-A), and overall the combination of the product, the team, and the community is quite truly unbeatable. I'm SO excited for the team after many years of toiling in the dark, so to speak. It's been amazing to be part of the journey for the past two years, and hopefully many more to come.
Odin Urdland
@jakesing Thank you so much Jake! That was a great on-point video. Love concrete examples like this! Also thanks a lot for your long-time contributions in the community ^_^
Jake Singer
@odinu thanks Odin! hoping to make more videos like this, I want to make sure regular people understand how awesome Tana is, and that you don't have be into PKM or anything like that to get value from it. Thank YOU for building something so awesome.
Tarjei Vassbotn
Thank you so much, @jakesing. Keep the content coming, you and the rest of the community is what makes Tana really special!
Olav Sindre Kriken
@jakesing WOW! Fantastic video, Jake! Your Things Productivity Template is second to none. Awesome to have you part of our journey.
Rosie Sherry
I'm a big fan and daily user of Tana! Best of luck!

@rosiesherry We are a big fan of you too Rosie! Community is so central to Tana and you've been a big inspiration for us (Community Knowledge Management ftw!)
Tarjei Vassbotn
Thanks for the support @rosiesherry !

What the team at @Tana has built is nothing short of revolutionary. As someone who has extensively experimented with virtually every personal knowledge management tool on the market - from Evernote to Capacities to Logseq to Roam Research, Tana stands in a league of its own. It's the only system I know of that has the ability to comfortably house any type of information I want to store. Prior to discovering Tana, my experience with PKM tools was consistently frustrating and felt constraining. I ended up with notes across dozens of tools, creating a hard to retrieve entangled mess of information that was absolutely crippling to my productivity.. Tana is the first tool that truly adapts to how my brain works, rather than forcing me to adapt to it. Its insane flexibility combined with its structured approach has allowed me to finally take control of my thought processes and knowledge management in a way that is hard to describe without experiencing it. And I have truly only scratched the surface of its incredible capabilities. While traditional note-taking apps are more like building an enterprise applications with just HTML, Tana enables you to actually "code" your thinking process through its ability to build compound structures, create reusable thought patterns, and link ideas programmatically – all while scaling with complexity. Its similar to how MacOS serves as the operating system while Python is used to program it. It's a transformative paradigm shift because once you learn to "code" your thoughts using Tana's framework, you will unlock entirely new ways of thinking that weren't previously possible with conventional note-taking methods. If other PKM tools are like standard vehicles, Tana is a Ferrari: precision-engineered, high-performance, and designed for those who demand the absolute best!!
Tarjei Vassbotn
WOW, thanks a lot @elomaur! Deeply appreciated. What amazing praise - we're blushing right now.
Brage Bang
@tana @elomaur Elom, thank you for a very kind review 🫶 I had the same experience when I discovered Tana, coming from other knowledge management systems. And this: "Tana is the first tool that truly adapts to how my brain works, rather than forcing me to adapt to it." 👈 This goes in my onboarding template straight away. Great way to put it!
Elom
@tarjeiv 🫶 You've all build something truly incredible! Excited for others to experience Tana's magic!
Gokul
I've genuinely enjoyed using Tana quite a bit (switched over from Workflowy). I wanted a tool that marries Workflowy's outliner simplicity with Notion's structure + some tools like tagging, dates, etc. Tana does this arguably complex orchestration fairly well. I hope they can improve their iOS/Android apps though (it's *maddening* to not be able to edit on mobile / add stuff easily). Best wishes to the Tana team!
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
@gokulns Thank you so much for your support and totally get your feedback regarding mobile! We just launched a new Android app (https://play.google.com/store/ap...) and recently shipping editing on iOS (still early access). You can enable editing as an Early Access feature on iOS by going to the "Manage" tab, and toggle Early Access features on to test it. You can download the latest version from App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ta.... Hopefully that helps a bit!
Tarjei Vassbotn
So cool to hear @gokulns! Both Grim and me used Workflowy from way back. It's an amazing tool!
Stephanie Bonnet (From the Poolside)
I have been using Tana for the past two years and love how it brought all my needs into one tool: notes taking ,journaling, content ideation and creation etc. The team has built it with and for the community with transparency and fun. The new features are regularly added to make it easier for beginners: it is such a new approach that it can feel a bit uncomfortable at the beginning but with teachers such as @evielync and the great Slack community, you quickly get the hang out of it. There are tons of powerful uses that I still have to explore and I can't wait!
Aurora
@monaco Thanks so much, Stephanie! It’s wonderful to hear how Tana has streamlined everything for you and that you’re finding even more ways to use it. Totally agree—the community and teachers like Ev make diving in so much easier. Excited to see what you’ll discover next!
Odin Urdland
@monaco That is so fantastic to hear, going from 'useful to us' through 'useful for experts' towards 'useful for anyone' is exactly where we want to be going. And using the parts you find useful and doing real work with it is a *great* strategy in my opinion. You'll know when you need or want to explore other powerful uses :))
Tarjei Vassbotn
Thank you for the long term support @monaco! (Are you actually writing this from the pool?)
Stephanie Bonnet (From the Poolside)
@tarjeiv not today. It's the name of my newsletter/blog/app. I review and curate boutique hotels with pools in Europe. So yes sometimes I do write it from the pool!
Ev chapman
@monaco Glad to have been part of your Tana journey Stephanie

Hi team! Excited about the launch. @olavkriken | Just a quick heads up that your "Live On Product Hung" link on your website is directing to www.producthunt.com instead of your launch. I couldn't get here from the website & had to manually look at it. Thought you'd want to know to get more traffic here :)
Aurora
Really appreciate you making us aware of this @godsgotvision! Attention to detail really matters. And thank you for the support!
Kyle Stratis
Great to see Tana launching here! I've been a very happy user from the very beginning, coming from Roam and Obsidian, and I rarely ever leave Tana. It provides incredible scaffolding for work tasks, personal and work projects, learning material, and more - just about everything I do lives in Tana in some form. Happy to see you guys here and to see the continued growth of the community!
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
@kyle_stratis Thank you so much for the support and for being part of the community! Much love from team Tana!

Tana has been the most powerful, go to Knowledge Management Tool for me since it's early alpha launch days! The team's foresight into what the ideal solution should be like is unparalleled and I am so excited for the world to discover Tana now.! Kudos to the team and the community!
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
@karthikk_vijay Thank you so much for the long time support! We wouldn't be here without alphas like you.
Matthew McKinlay
@karthikk_vijay You were an *instant* advanced user Karthikk, able to understand Tana quickly and push Tana quickly! Thanks for the great comment.
Tarjei Vassbotn
Thanks a lot @karthikk_vijay!

Lucky day for everyone who discovers Tana today! The ONE product that adapts to how I think and work (opposed to all others for which I had to adapt my workflows). Yes, there is a little learning curve to it, but start simple, keep at it and it'll change everything for you! Thank you so much for building this incredible platform. 🙏 All the best for the launch and keep up the amazing work!
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
And thank you so much for your support @david_fuesser!
Ken Blackman
I've been amazed at how many other productivity tools I've been able to build an equal-or-better version of in Tana. And at how responsive and accessible the Tana team are. And at how smart and, well, communal the community are. The more time I invest in building exactly what I need inside Tana, the more of my other productivity tools end up being redundant. My productivity stack is gradually becoming Tana. And I know the Tana of six months from now or a year from now, will be vastly better. Because that's been the trend so far.
Hilde Dybdahl Johannessen
Onwards and upwards @ken_blackman! Thank you for the kind words and support 🫶
Brage Bang
@ken_blackman All you tools inside Tana by 2026 or bust 😄 🫶
Aurora
Love LOVE L O V E to hear this @ken_blackman! Thank you for being an early Tanarian
Guilherme Costa
@ken_blackman This is really something. It's become very difficult to even try to build workflows in other tools since I've come to expect the level of flexibility I get from Tana and the level of support I get from its community.
Renée De Four
What an exciting day to see such a beautiful and powerful product launched into the world. What's even more magnificent is the dedicated team and absolutely AMAZING Tana community. Congratulations Tanarians!!! 🎉🥰🎊
