Talktastic is exactly that — a fantastic app that makes it easy to naturally dictate to your Mac but goes above and beyond conventional dictation by interpolating your meaning based on the context of the app you're using or the people you're talking to!
That is, say you're writing an email to your investors in Superhuman — you'll want to sound one way (professional, upbeat, optimistic) whereas if you're hanging out in Github comments and making an argument for a feature change, you'll want to sound balanced, rigorous, and also not like a jerk.
Talktastic adjusts the content it generates based on whatever you dictate, but goes one step beyond anything else that's out there.

@chrismessina @max_savonin1 TalkTastic is responsive to your context in a way that other applications aren't. For example, we built OASIS AI, and you'd have to choose different writing styles and apply these filters. But it was kind of the same for everybody. With TalkTastic, there's no static writing style. It's not just some predefined styles. It's completely contextual to you and your environment and what you're trying to do. We really try to keep your authentic voice and then use the AI to fit it in the context, if that makes sense. I recommend you take it for a spin and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear your feedback.

Hi Max, to answer your questions,
1. We don't yet have the ability to adjust the dials on the context as of yet, but it's definitely on the roadmap.
However, the good news is that with our context snapshot set to on, TalkTastic can understand your general writing style within the environment in which you are communicating.
2. Our speech recognition is best-in-class in terms of performance and accuracy. The core of our beta testing hypotheses are around this very question: how to make the context feature meet the needs of users wherever they are speaking? To that end, we offer a few versions of rewrites plus a direct transcription within the current product. Users can select which version to use, adding some signal.
Ultimately we envision some more proactive controls for users.

The product is fascinating, as it can comprehend my context even when I switch between Portuguese and English. I hope it will enable the use of my OpenAI API in the future or remain affordable, as I appreciate the solution and wish for it to stay accessible for developing countries like Brazil.
@rodrigopaiva That is so great to hear! We have new languages in our roadmap, we're currently looking at about 55 languages but we've been hearing these delightful stories of automatic transcription working (it is in testing) for people. We're very excited.
💎 Pixel perfection
Talktastic has been a natural integration to my daily life chatting back and forth between the frontier model du jour in Cursor, and speeding up sending emails, drafting messages, etc. I've tried pretty much all of the current options out there and have even created my own, and Talktastic is clearly the best option out there.
In addition, @mattmireles has been a joy to interact with and is extremely responsive when it comes to feedback and bug reporting. Their UI for feedback is stellar and is deserving of a spinout product of its own. In fact, it's been something I've specifically been interested in seeing someone create. It's worth an install just to see their approach to feedback in work!
I don't post on ProductHunt.. well ever.. these days, but I had to make this post because of how impressed I've been at both Talktastic's current product and their rate of progress. I'm looking forward to seeing how they continue to build Talktastic beyond what is already the best-in-class experience for voice dictation (though classifying the product as a voice dictation tool is underselling the product). I've been using TalkTastic for the past week, and it has completely transformed how I write emails, send Slack messages, and even draft work content and papers. Despite being a fast typist, I prefer speaking whenever possible. The way TalkTastic refines and polishes my spoken words has genuinely changed my workflow. @elaineluyi Elaine, thanks! TalkTastic handles accents and dialects surprisingly well. I invite you to try it out. By incorporating context, the AI becomes much more accurate, making issues with accents and dialects less relevant.
Regarding authenticity, that's what we aim for. We aim to make it sound like you.

1. Privacy. The app takes screenshots, where are those processed and how do we know the content is being kept private?
2. Money. When a service is free, we are usually the product. How are you planning to support the app?
@andreasduess Hi Andreas, the app offers you three modes:
1. No context -- meaning it doesn't ever take a screenshot for you, but you miss out on this feature.
2. Delete - this uses it for context but deletes the screenshot after it is used.
3. Saved - in this case they are saved in the cloud but the plan is to move them locally.
We are focusing on getting the experience right and taking feedback from users about their privacy concerns and how to best solve them, as we consider paid tiers we may offer end-to-end encryption. However, we're still in the listening phase.

Working with this incredible team to build and launch TalkTastic has been such a pleasure. It's not often that you get to use the tool that you are making, to continue to improve that very tool.
For work I have been using it to communicate swiftly inside Slack, write clear & concise emails in mail and the entire product copy inside of Figma.
Off the clock I've been using it in WhatsApp, Messages, Facebook and to talk out my twitter post concepts. I even use it to write product reviews for camping gear which I can't get enough of these days.
I just used TalkTastic to write this message and I think you should save yourself some time by talking out your thoughts instead of typing them.
TalkTastic is a really magical product. I use it daily on my Mac & miss it when I'm on my iPhone. The ability to just speak, knowing you'll be understood perfectly, is really freeing. I've always hated responding to emails and messages, my bar for clarity is high & it takes me forever to edit and perfect a response. But with TalkTastic, it often nails not just the key points, but also the contextually appropriate tone, style & formatting. I find it allows me to focus on the ideas I'm conveying, instead of how I'm saying or writing them, which is really powerful.
The product experience also is exceptional—fast, stable, beautifully designed, and seamlessly integrated with the OS.

This app is one of the best apps I have ever seen. You have done a great job. But there are some things I am curious about. To which artificial intelligence do you send the text? Is the information sent to the cloud or is it processed entirely on the computer? What is the artificial intelligence model used?
@mustafasaracai Mustafa, Thank you for the kudos, and these are great questions. We use a combination of LLMs and some home grown machine learning/voice recognition software. For now there is a combination of local processing and cloud-based, with an eye on making everything on your own hardware for privacy.

I've been using Talktastic as a closed beta tester for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it. It's a huge time saver, and he always understands the context perfectly. It's like having an assistant who helps you craft emails, texts, or any other messages flawlessly every single time. Unbelievable!

As someone with ADHD, I do my best thinking out loud. I've tried various tools to record my thoughts, and AI has made it easier to transcribe them more accurately. However, organizing those messy transcripts into something useful and authentic has always been a challenge - even with AI.
What excites me about Talktastic is that it does all of this in one place. It lets me think out loud, transcribes my thoughts, and reorganizes them into something useful. Whether I'm working on a document, sending an email, or preparing a presentation, Talktastic transforms my messy thoughts into something genuinely useful for me and the recipient.
The team behind Talktastic is incredibly responsive and thoughtful. They are smart people dedicated to helping users retain their authentic voice while making things more efficient. As an early adopter of AI tools, I've tried many, but none have successfully replicated my voice—until Talktastic. I've been using TalkTastic for a few weeks now, and it's really improved my efficiency in responding to emails and a number of other tasks that I dread doing because I just don't like typing them out and thinking through the right wording. @kjosephabraham Thanks, Joseph! We have a lot on the roadmap. In the near term, we're adding features like history, custom shortcuts, and an even cleaner interface. Medium term, we're looking at introducing a Chrome extension and business tier with end-to-end encryption. Exciting times ahead!
