@acnebs as a note app connoisseur, the card idea seems super interesting. I’ll have to give it a try.
I’ve settled on Craft as of late because I love the native design & daily notes.
Are your macOS & iOS apps built natively or they’re web apps?
@metedata Definitely give us a try! We've spent a lot of time perfecting the design and making daily note-taking something fun to do.
The apps are all web-based under-the-hood, but we've done a lot of performance tuning to ensure it feels as native as possible, and think we've actually done a pretty good job!

I definitely fell into the trap with Craft & all other apps where I feel like I have to use formatting / advanced features to make my notes more functional or prettier, but in reality I just want to dump some text in and have the app do the rest of the work for me. Supernotes seems more aligned with that philosophy.
Supernotes is a wonderful space for structured thinking. I use it for outlining blog posts and presentations before turning them into slides.

Hi @madavvero, great question! Roam Research is an Outliner system, based on collapsible bullets, rather than being based on a system of modular notecards.
Both paradigms have their strengths, but Supernotes really comes into it's own on mobile. Our short-form format is perfect to quickly jot down ideas while you are on the go. You can then edit them when you get home on your laptop, share them with your friends, family and colleagues and collaborate on them in real time. This piecemeal approach to knowledge management, is almost like connecting your ideas together like legos. Try Supernotes for a week and see if it sticks :)

@lyondhur Unfortunately not. We had a lifetime option a few years ago when we were just getting started, but do not offer that any longer.

Supernotes is amazing. Connor and Tobias are incredibly dedicated to building the best note taking app out there, and it shows!
Looks cool, 🤷🏻♀️ but I am always stopped by one crucial thing with any notes app... or really any app that i'm going to use to catalogue my entire life with and thats the fact that its closed source. When your company goes away or is sold i'll be left deeply intertwined with a product soon to be defunct. The only way I could ever make the commitment and investment into a product like this is if I knew I could host a version myself on my home server.
Hi @puppycodes, great point. That's one of the reasons we've built a sustainable company over the past five years, so we can be as persistent as your knowledge.
We've also have a simple one-click export all your cards on Supernotes as a zip of Markdown files, compatible with any other text editor 📝
@twhetton Thanks for considering! Even exporting to a text editor would be a loss that feels insurmountable. In my experience once folks get a way of working its totally world ending to shift to a different app or process. appreciate the response <3

@itsjulius Hi Julius! Not really haha. We have many videos on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@Supernotes), but yes those are all a few years old now. However most of the key ideas still apply, so feel free to watch some of those videos to get a feel for it.
We will be producing new videos over the coming months to bring everything up to date with all the changes and improvements we've been making lately!
